Hawaii is full of beauty, and hopefully the food is the same. There are so many things that influences the food in Hawaii, what goes into making each dish, and that makes Hawaiian food different.

There is a lot that influences Hawaiian cuisine. Different cultures had influenced Hawaiian food. Native Hawaiians, Samoans, Tongans, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, and Haole have influenced the food in Hawaii (hawaii.edu). Since, Hawaii is made up of islands, and it has the perfect soil to grow plants. Which most of their fruits and vegetables are grown mostly in their backyards. The livestock and marine life also influence what Hawaiians eat. Because Hawaii has a lot of seafood and meat in their meals. Most of Hawaii's islands have ranches on them with most of them on the larger islands. Mexican cowboys have taught Hawaiians how to manage their herds.

There are lots of things that goes into what making a dish. Fresh fruit is commonly used in shaved ice. Anything that has fruit in it usually has fresh fruit, rather than artificial flavoring. Meat is used in most meals. Pork seems to be the most popular, and they are served in luaus. Hawaiians followed a strict diet, and men would eat taro (SIRS). Hawaii is the perfect place to grow plants. Plants are commonly grown in backyards. Sugarcane, pineapple, papaya, banana, and mangos are grown in backyards. Cold snacks and desserts are very popular. It would make sense because Hawaii is tropical, and it could be hot on some days. Food served in luaus were once reserved for royalty (Hawaii). It's nice to know that the food you are served at luaus were once served to important people. Hawaii is also the home of poi. Poi is a paste made from mashed bananas or pineapples with coconut cream.
