I thank God for inspiring me to write my book about alternative medicine/natural healing. I would not have written it if I did not some chronic health problems. Through my pain some good came out of it, and I hope that my book will enhance the faith in others that God is a divine healer. It may not be God’s will to heal you, if he doesn’t, he probably wants you to search for your healing, but you must have faith that it can happen.

There are many different healing modalities throughout the world. These modalities allow people multiple opportunities to get the help they need to be fully functional. Each of these modalities uses a way to create a harmony between the mind and body. Reiki will infuse energy into the person’s body to create healing. The mind-body connection alludes to the affinity between the mind and body, specifically in matters of health and well-being. “The word healing comes from the Anglo-Saxon word haelen, which means to make whole. One way to look at it is as harmony of mind, body, and spirit.” (Keirtzer, 2013) Healing not only pertains to being cured from a disease or sickness but also at peace with what is happening or has happened. I was unable to participate in ordinary activities due to the own restraints I had placed upon myself. I always felt alone in the crowd; I was self-conscious and felt as if the world always had a judgmental eye looking down on me. Food was my addiction, calories my drug. I was eating through my pain and depression. Food gave me a sense of safety and security unlike anything else. I was trapped, desperate for freedom. Until I decided to make a change; I decided that I was not going to be trapped any longer! I vowed to set myself free.

Our ancestors used this inherent knowledge, as well as other skills, to preserve not only our lives, but the lives of others as well. Unfortunately, due to the passage of time and the rapid growth of technology, we have lost touch with much of this wisdom. We have lost touch with our natural capabilities to heal and tune into the needs of spirit. To touch infinity, and grasp what could be considered basic concepts related to some of our greatest gifts.
