In this case this type of communication has many pros in the way it can send out information to people all over, targets a wide audience, effective recruitment tool, facilitates open communication, and you are able to deliver communication to the specific person it is intended for. The disadvantages of electronic, and social media is that it increases the risk online scams that seem real, possibility of hackers committing fraud , and negative comments that can be seen about the company in which they may not be true. It has become more popular to receive a telephone call, or a text message verifying an appointment or a prescription
Within a health care setting communication is a necessity. This communication not only includes the need for professional communication but also the way in which information is shared to the patient and to other healthcare workers. Another important aspect of health care worker such as a nurse is the effectiveness off a handover. Within the video, Effective Communication in nursing these three aspects of communication (Professional communication, provision of information and handover) were seen and will be analysed further, within this essay. These will be analysed through the three aspects, the care of the patient, the image of the individual nurse and the health outcomes of the patient. All of these three aspects of communication are vitally important to the overall patient needs.
I work in a nursing home, is a place for people who don't need to be in a hospital but can't be cared for at home. mostly the people what have hearing impairments,visual impairments and or learning disabilities. In my work i need give attention for any person what have difficulty for Hearing, speaking, seeing, and having difficulty learning. i work at night for 12 hours, Most nursing homes have nursing aides and skilled nurses on hand 24 hours a day.
In the modern world people operate their businesses and practically live their lives through the Internet, the use of social media, and easily obtainable information. Although easy access to nearly everything and everyone has many advantages, there are plenty disadvantages that accompany social media and easily obtainable information. If the world only knew how becoming aware of the rewards and drawbacks of social media and the ability to access information with ease people may change how they practice and consume it, especially when understanding the need to further question the reliability of their sources. Nowadays, the number of people who have access to the internet has increased tremendously. This is one of the main reasons why many consumers/patients want to communicate to their physicians through online messaging. Online Patient-Clinician Messaging has the potential to improve the quality of medical care as it helps improve the relationship between the physician and the patient and it promotes greater involvement by patients in their own care (National Ethics Committee of the Veterans Health Administration, 2004, p. 2). Because of its benefits, there are many health care organizations that use online patient-clinician messaging. Veterans Health Administration makes patient-clinician messaging available through its My HealtheVet initiative. In addition, Kaiser Permanente also makes patient-clinician messaging available through “My Health Manager. My Health Manager is Kaiser Permanente 's personal health record, linked to its comprehensive electronic health record system, Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect(R). My Health Manager users can access their health records, view lab test results, email their physicians, request prescription refills, make, change and cancel appointments for themselves and, if authorized, also for family members ( Telemedicine Business Week, 2012).However, despite of the benefits of using online messaging, there are many physicians who are hesitant to adopt the practice. It is very important to be able to recognise what a person’s body language is saying, especially when as a health or social care worker you are dealing with someone who is in pain, worried or upset.
HIPAA Act focuses on increased confidentiality and stronger security measures to protect health information (Hixson & Hunt-Unruh, n.d., para. 1). Any information posted to blogs, Facebook accounts, or communities online by health care organizations should be ready for the public to see. Also, there should be policies and guidelines related to online communications put in place before using these means of communication. The HIPAA Act also provides patients with increased access to their own medical records and also restricts and regulates who else can see them (Du Pré, 2005, p. 100).
The healthcare industry is starving for a simple and reliable means of communication. Caregivers continue to struggle to reach each other on a daily basis, despite the abundance of technology available today. A communication strategy adopted by many healthcare organizations is to utilize mobile devices. The use of personal mobile devices today are remarkably high. Most of the population uses a cell phone. The challenge is how to transition caregivers to use mobile devices as an effective and reliable means of communication. These complexities involved in health care communication protocols are overwhelming and require careful consideration to develop an effective solution. This is an analysis of a taped interview between a nurse and a patient who is taking pre-employment medicals. The information given during the interview, including her name, Pink Cloud is fictitious because of the need of confidentiality. During the interview, objective and subjective data will be collected. The areas of communication focused on in the analysis are verbal, questioning and listening skills. Analysis will be made and later suggestions and recommendations will be made on how to make improvements in the future. To achieve this, direct quotations from the will be used to make references to the three theories being analysed and will be supported by the literature.
Promoting physical activity can be great for all ages and populations but for this communication intervention, I will focus on promoting physical activity among adults and older adults. Research stated that adults do not meet the recommended physical activity guidelines in America. So the next step is to take action. What can help increase physical activity in adult’s lives? Well for the most part, adults must be educated on the issue at hand. How do we expect a change to be made if we are not incorporating ways to improve it? Informative physical activity briefings, community service events, social media (Instagram, Facebook), being creative by making colorful posters grabs the audience attention. Written communication is a vital part in every origination, especially in the health and social care setting. Accurate records and files of patients must be kept and members of staff such as doctors, nurses and carers must always be in constant communication through files, notes, emails and regular meetings. Communication gets better when staff and patients communicate clearly and pay particular attention to detail. Administration also plays an important role in keeping up with all the X rays, appointments, doctors letters and the smooth running of the health and social care organisation. Communication must always be very clear and straight to the point. Effective communication does solve many problems and sometimes it can even save lives.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the different interdisciplinary methods of patient-clinician communication. This topic is important to me because having the ability to be effective in my communication results in satisfaction, fulfillment, quality, safety, contentment, and peace. After writing this paper I hope to learn the many different techniques and skills to increase and sharpen my level of communication. I hope this new knowledge will inspire me to continually keep an open mind, while being considerate, to all the different channels of communication that can be implemented into my practice. Nurses need to know the benefits of communication because in our profession we interact with patients during their most vulnerable states. Further more, these patients are frightened, embarrassed, frustrated, ashamed, and at times, lost. They are not capable of clearly articulating their needs and wants because of the encumbrance of emotions they are experiencing. Through effective communication of engaging listening and continual reflection we can help these patients express their feelings. Helping the patient to feel comfortable, safe, and in control will start the establishment of a trusted relationship allowing nurses the opportunity to make a difference.
At the same time, health care organizations find challenges in adopting social media. Hospital and medical practices are risk adverse and generally cautious about new technology trends without clear value. There are questions about whether social media use by hospital employees is a waste of time, or even worse, presents risks of violating HIPAA or leaking proprietary information. Hospital IT departments are concerned about security risks, such as the use of tinyurl.com, which can mask malicious Web sites. Privacy concerns, particularly the vulnerability of social media accounts, are also cited as a reason to avoid social media. (John Sharp 2010).

“Tweet that!! Post that pic on Instagram!! Slide in my DMs!!! Add me on Snapchat!!!” These are the phrases our generation love to use when we try to interact with one another. Social media is a great way to open up opportunities and can assist us with getting our merchandise/business/art promoted or advertised for the world to see. However, there are numerous ways that social media can ruin people’s reputation/careers/future in getting a job. Today I am going to provide the positive and negative features of social media.
