A paper chart contains the same data that you would enter into an EHR program.
Paper charts are typically index with tabs for each section, and the documents are filed with the most recent on the top.
An EHR is a valuable resource to invest in. For continitiy of care every thing is housed in a secured HL7 database. For better care for your patients, you can send files electronically to referring physicians. You also have Physician to Physician Portals, where you can send secured messages, consultation notes, and results. The most recent add is the Patient Portals. You can send requests to your physician, see medical records, and request office visits. This portal helps cut down on telephone calls back and forth between the patients and the medical offices.
