Improving the quality of care is becoming the main goal of all healthcare systems worldwide. The phenomenon of quality of care is complex and sensitive, for example, to economic resources, cultural values, health providers’ status and norms, and clients’ expectations (Montgomery, Todorova, Baban, & Panagopoulou, 2013). Organizational Culture (OC) thereby is relevant to the quality of care and important to be considered by the management of healthcare organizations. Health services researchers have studied the link between various dimensions of performance in healthcare systems and organizational culture. According to Kohn, Corrigan, & Donaldson (1999), the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has highlighted the relationship between quality of care and organizational culture. In response to that Institute of Medicine’s report, Bellot (2011) stated that Gershon and colleagues (2004) found that supported culture has a pivotal impact on decreasing the rates of medical
At the point when 9/11 happened, I was an eighth grader in South Florida, and an amazingly naive nationalist. I observed with sickening apprehension as the second tower fell live on the TV in my show class. I needed activity! How set out the "scalawags" do such a marvel to my kindred Americans!
HealthSouth Corporation was one of the largest publicly traded owners of rehabilitative hospitals within the Untied States and paved the way for its industry. However, prior to 2003 the company had a very dark secret: fraud. In 2003 HealthSouth was accused of making $2.7 billion in false journal entries in the company’s system (Helios, 2013). These false entries allowed the corporation to inflate its earnings and revenue. While the corporation was dabbling in a fraudulent, aggressive account system, auditors were unable to detect the extent of the fraud occurring. If not for Michael Vines and Weston Smith, HealthSouth Corporation might have continued its false entries and continued deceiving shareholders and even Wall Street itself. HealthSouth serves as a historical example of how corporate culture can use fraud and deception schemes to not only rationalize what it is doing, which is an element of the fraud triangle, but also encourage fraudulent financial statements.
In healthcare organization, it is necessary to hold a proper link between the culture and structure in relation to the successful execution of the organization's strategies.
With the current healthcare reform, all organizations around the globe are aiming to redesign their operations. Healthcare systems, that use the omnibus leadership model, need to function in an environment in which the needs of society will have a positive reaction. Nevertheless, the dynamic culture leadership model argues that healthcare organizations need to always work in ways that they can definitely give services that the society can use (Kennedy et al., 2011).
The Iliad’s portrayal of Helen’s agency appears conflicted. Characters debate if Helen went to Troy due to kidnapping, persuasion, or her own free will, and while at times she is listened to, men often objectify her. There is a limited amount of clarity surrounding Helen that can be gleaned from this story as told by Homer and the varied characters through whom he speaks. Yet within this story lies the window to another version of events, the story as told by Helen herself. The Iliad does not thoroughly divulge this story, but it does reveal the medium through which she tells it: weaving.
