My name is Talya Ginyard and this is my second year at Davenport, where I am pursuing a BS in Health Information Management. I am employed full-time at Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC, as a Pharmacy Chargemaster Analyst. My vision for this practicum project stemmed from recent reports of soaring readmission rates for Vanguard Hospital core measure patients; which include patients with a diagnosis of a myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and pneumonia. Preventing unnecessary readmissions for core measure patients was the topic of discussion at the monthly staff meeting that I attended. The Director of Nursing and Quality Improvement Coordinator led the discussion; which included, informing the staff of recent Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement cuts related to the increase in readmissions for these particular patients. In addition, statistical information was displayed using SHP data and the Midas Report, revealing how Vanguard Hospital and Home
The hastening change toward automated medical accounts impends to depersonalize and short-circuit the training of health professionals even as it delivers them with better access to patient information (Mangan, 2009).
I arrived on time in full nursing uniform. I practiced HIPPA when I interviewed SB and his mother by providing privacy in the conference room. Moreover, when I reviewed the immunization records of SB and other children, I followed HIPPA regulations after reviewing their medical records by logging out the computer when I am done reviewing the medical records.
The five most important characteristics for a healthcare provider is honesty, patience, empathy, responsibility, and a team player. I picked honesty because for me honesty is important because if I was the patient I would like for the nurses and doctors be completely honest with me. To be honest you have trustful. Patients should be able to always have faith in you. You always have to be honest with the patients no matter what. Honesty has a lot to do with the healthcare industry.
As our healthcare system continues to evolve with the passage and adoption of the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care), new laws and regulations related to medical services reimbursement is also developing. However, disparities continue to exist between medical providers and third-party practitioners such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners(ARNP), leading to a lack of autonomy or independent practice (Woo, & Robinson, 2016). According to (Hain, & Fleck, 2014), many Nurse Practitioners report that payer’s policies have a critical impact in the way they care for patients and negatively reduces their ability practice to their full extent of their clinical expertise and education.
Many years ago I chose my studies to begin a career in the medical field. My original goal was to become a Pediatrician. However, at the end of my bachelor’s degree and after many hours spent volunteering at Miami Children’s Hospital, I decided that I wanted a career that would give me more patient provider interaction. I spoke with several doctors, nurses, and other health care providers and decided the best career for me was a Nurse Practitioner. I still have not decided on a specialty but I feel that path will come naturally with

The field of healthcare administration is growing at a steady pace to bring about efficient service to all the patients (Harris, 2015). Currently, many specialists have emerged to ensure good health to all individuals at affordable rates. For instance, there is the healthcare documentation specialist, formally known as medical transcriptionists, who are highly-skilled health personnel, dealing with the process of transcribing, verifying, or converting spoken (voice-recorded reports) as dictated by a healthcare professional (Skurka, 2017). The prepared report henceforth becomes part of the permanent health record or history of the patient that can be used in future reference.
For my interview I contacted a general practitioner at Kaiser Permanente in hopes of not only learning about the traditional treatments and information, but also for data and prevention facts on Alzheimer's to further understand Kaiser’s methods and the impact it tends to have. I wanted to use this interview as a method to gain insight on my developed questions, as well as a basis for my further development.
Moreover, the physician liaison would be responsible for regular and steady communication with providers concerning how our hospital can assist their practice. The liaison will also entice referring physicians that are rank high with communication appointments over a meal paid for by the hospital. Finally, the liaison will arrange thoughtful and appropriate gifts for referring physicians during specific and fitting times of the year.
Going to the Medical Office Association Meeting was a great learning experience. I went to the meeting that was held on Monday March 16, 2015. The topic that was being discussed on that meeting was the Conference Meeting and Volunteering.
In the medical office, there are several types of occurrences that may require immediate invention by the medical assistant. A few examples include:
