There are different types of technology that is used by medical assistants which also depends on which type of office one is working in. If it is an administrative medical assistant they will use the computer, a fax machine, printer, the telephone if they are mainly in the office. If it is a clinical medical assistant then they will be more than likely working in a medical setting. In the process of checking a patient’s blood pressure they will use an electronic blood pressure monitor if a manual one is not at their disposal. Another piece of equipment that a medical assistant may use would be a high frequency ultrasound machine. They will also use electrocardiograph equipment to check a patient’s heartbeat pattern. A Physician assistant is also known as a PA, which means practice medicine on a team, under the supervision of physicians and or surgeons. They are formally educated to examine patients, diagnose injuries and illnesses, and provide treatment, as well as write prescriptions for their patients.

In my time volunteering at the hospital, I hope to gain many different experiences. However, there are a few main ones: adaptation through enrichment and dependability. First of all, I want to get to know and adapt to the environment of the hospital and learn how different processes work. This is a crucial part of being in the atmosphere of a clinic. Also, the experiences that I will have at the hospital will help me to understand the routines and entailments of the career I would like to pursue. I hope to become a Physician’s Assistant in the future and this will be the best way to know if it is the right position for me. Most people who attend Cerritos College may be unfamiliar with the services that are offered to help students reach success. Among all the student assistance that is offered at Cerritos College, I would say one of the most important and beneficial advantages of being a student is the health center. The health center is a place where s student can receive all types of care including mental health counseling, nutrition guidance, and checkups for physical well-being. With a place that’s not too far away and completely free of charge, the Cerritos College health center is certainly a place that can reassure students and help them reach success.

When I leave Finch-Henry Job Corps Center with everything I came to Finch-Henry for, I plan on taking up a career in Nursing Assistant. A Certified Nurse Assistant is a discipline who works under supervision of a licensed practical. They help patients by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs.

Medication assistant treatment also known as (MAT) is when a person has presented with an opioid addiction and have challenges stopping and/or abstaining from opioid use and they are prescribed either Methadone, Suboxone, or Vivitrol. Those who are in support for MAT is that this a better alternative to having individuals addicted to illicit substances. The other side to MAT is that this is way to keep individuals addicted to drugs, legally. I do not support MAT treatment as a form of long term treatment and not as the solution for opioid addiction. Serving as an Addiction Counselor and working with individuals who are addicted to opioids, I encounter many individuals who are or at one point utilized

Nurse Practitioners (NP) are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide care to patients throughout the lifespan, all the way from premature newborns to the elderly. A nurse practitioner has a more rewarding career then a physician assistant because of the education requirements, commission, job abilities, training and advancements in career.

The apparel requirements for a medical assistant are scrubs and closed toed shoes. “The majority of medical assistant positions require you to wear scrubs” (Career Gear). Scrubs are loose fitting, the top is short sleeved and the pants have drawstrings to adjust at the waist. Scrubs are required in this field because they are comfortable and are professional looking. Wearing scrubs as a uniform helps patients identify you at the workplace and can help employees feel equal to one another. “The most important aspects of footwear for medical assistants are comfort and safety” (Career Gear). Duties of being a Resident Assistants can be very challenging, exciting, and enduring. Although I am an incoming sophomore at Wilberforce University I believe I meet the criteria and have the skills of being a RA. I understand there will be conflicts that come along with that title, but with past opportunities and obstacles I am able to resolve many situations.
