Situational assessment is an honest and objective look at multiple factors that can affect the success of any health organization especially with it mission, vision and goals.
As healthcare leader, a tool employed to assess the environment is the SWOT analysis. The SWOT analysis examine the Internal strength and weakness of the organization and the external opportunity and threat that faces the organization. (Ledlow & Stephens, 2017)
As a professional healthcare leader in the dynamic healthcare industry, the continuous scanning of the environment is paramount, a good knowledge of current healthcare policies is vital, and flexibility to multiple change and adapt to multiple innovations will be great advantage to the healthcare leader.

They must have the desired charisma to develop and influence other in a unique way that will yield positive results. Power is an important tool to achieve this and its characterized by values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Using power to influence a change of behaviors is less difficult compare to changing attitudes; attitudes are also less difficult to change than either beliefs or values. If any of these three variables (expectancy, instrumentality, and valence) decreases in value, then motivation decreases. (Ledlow & Stephens, 2017).
The grounded knowledge of various theory on motivation can help healthcare leaders make decisions that will yield better outcome when it comes to motivation. If a healthcare leader can’t motivate his organization, the moral of the organization which is supposed to be result oriented may fall short of the required standard.

Communication is another skill that is essential to the betterment of any healthcare leader. Communication mode/ tone contributes greatly to the culture and climate of the health organization. Communication is a process of active transaction (trans active), which means messages are sent and received simultaneously. (Ledlow & Stephens, 2017). Communication is the main stimulus behind the motivational efforts and strategies employed by leaders.
