Healthy eating is what we all need to consider in our everyday life. Healthy eating good prevent you from getting cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. There are many choices that we can make that can either benefit us or be hazardous to our health. There are many factors out there that can cause harm to the body. I have chosen three to discuss. What I am going to be talking about throughout my paper will be cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Something else that is not good to consume is a lot of alcohol. You can drink it in moderation, but if you drink it on a daily basis then there is another risk that can bring on cancer. Drinking plenty of water is a great way to keep your body refreshed and replenished. There have been certain cancers that have been linked to being heavy or as they call it obese. If a women has a waist circumference of 35 inches or more your risk increases and if a male has a waist circumference of 40 or more he is also at a risk increase. Michael Pollan says in his argument that the western diet is chiefly to blame for a majority of health deceases, he says “the scientist who blame our health problems on defiances of these micronutrients are not the same scientist who see sugar-soaked diet leading to metabolic syndrome and from there to diabetes, heart deceases, and cancer” (421) Due to all this negative impact to our health Pollan says that the food industry needs new theories to better redesign processed food and the medical community to make new drugs to beget deceases.

Although many do not understand how this obesity epidemic began but speculation is contributed to the environmental changes. Many believe the lack of exercise versus consumption of food is the most logical reason for obesity. The concern of fast food has also remained in the spotlight for unhealthy, greasy, high calorie food. The American health efficiency won 't be achieved through the increased consumption of fast foods, the American population should adopt better-eating habits and exercise approaches to ensure a healthy environment. Poor health habits are the leading causes of premature death among children and adults as indicated by WHO (2009). I get it eating healthy can be a problem for some people even though you may just be that person that chooses not to eat healthy it can still be a struggle. Everyone and their family enjoy eating things such as (Cakes,Pies,Ice Cream,Cookies,etc.) so why would you choose to eat healthy foods over that? Equally alarming is the information the authors conveyed regarding the government’s repudiation of information presented by the Surgeon General as well as the World Health Organization expressing that a healthy diet assists in the prevention of obesity related illness. It was surprising to learn that the government would question the viability of these reliable institution’s findings. I have to question my faith in the integrity of our nation’s most influential health organizations at the hearing of this information. I agree with the Surgeon General and the World Health Organization; healthy diet definitively aids in well-being and deterrence of obesity linked maladies. As my father has a formidable relationship with unhealthy food his health has been plagued with diabetes as well as significant heart problems; these illnesses are notably linked to poor diet choices. Conversely, my father-in-law was diagnosed with prediabetes and upon hearing the news promptly changed his eating habits to include the elimination of sugar; in a few short months his grim prognosis was transformed. It is my belief that the foods an individual chooses to consume can have vast repercussions, good or bad, on health.

When something is detrimental to our health, we strive to avoid it whenever possible to extend our lives. We know that exposure to known cancer causing agents such as asbestos and lead paint is harmful; therefore, we do not expose ourselves to the risk and we certainly do not eat it.
