Most people typically have an event or experience in their life when they know what they want to do as a career. For me, this event occurred when I was six years old as I was enrolled in speech therapy. Over the next five years, I went to speech therapy twice a week to alleviate an articulation error. I began to understand the affect speech therapy had on my life as I entered middle school and high school. While I was in speech, I was very reserved and lacked confidence; however, after completing speech therapy, I suddenly had the confidence to be a part of extracurricular activities, such as cheerleading and student council.

My undergraduate coursework has cultivated my love and devotion to speech pathology, and has prepared me with the necessary tools to follow my goals. I anticipate the opportunity at OSU to learn more about the role of an SLP in ASD and AAC.

Growing up I never dreamed of one day becoming an audiologist. In fact, until recent years I knew very little about the field of audiology. During my sophomore year at LSU, I enrolled in an anatomy and physiology course that properly introduced me to the human ear. I became fascinated with the intricate structures of the ear and the science behind audition. The more I learn about the field of audiology, the more captivated I become. The human body is extraordinary and the field of audiology seamlessly blends both science and art. During my last semester of college, I gained firsthand experience with the profession through an undergraduate hearing clinic. This clinical experience provided me with direct exposure to audiologic assessments and
