Throughout the United States there are many illnesses and diseases, though there is only one disease that kills about six hundred ten thousand people yearly, heart disease. Six hundred ten thousand people yearly is the reason why heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, that is one in every four deaths. Seems like a serious and scary situation correct; if you knew about this information would you have done something sooner or begin doing something? The number one heart disease related to high blood pressure is hypertensive heart disease. Hypertensive heart disease is when the heart fails and excessive thickening occurs on the ventricular walls. Heart failure occurs when the heart becomes weaker in pumping, blood moves less effectively, pressure increases, and delivery of oxygen and nutrients become harder. Because of the defects in the heart, the walls of the heart chambers will expand which means more blood capacity but also means weaker pumping. When delivery of oxygen and nutrients become difficult the kidney picks up the slack by retaining fluids like water and sodium. If you are experiencing any of these symptons then you are possibly at a greater chance of developing hypertensive heart disease if not already have it, shortness of breath, swelling at the ankles, feet, or abdomen, difficulty sleeping flat in a bed, experiencing a lot of bloating, nausea, or fatigueness, having an irregular pulse, and having a greater need to urinate at the night. Heart attacks occur about once every forty-three seconds in the United States which adds up to about seven-hundred thirty-five thousand heart attacks yearly. Heart attacks are the number one killer within both sexes, male and female. Although, caucosions, african-americans, and hispanics lead in the ethnicity groups of having heart disease with 23.8% (Caucasion and African-American) and 18.4% (Hispanics). Furthermore, heart disease is the second leading cause of death behind cancer for Asian-American, Pacific-Islander, and Alaskan-Native where as it is first for Caucasions, African-Americans, and Hispanics so they might be doing something different and something right with the way they eat and live, something every ethnicity group should follow to decrease the heart disease tradition. Another interesting fact is that a group of people with some college in their lives had a higher percentage of heart disease versus the group who actually graduated college. Also, the south has a higher percentage of having heart disease compare to the west where they have less people with heart
