Plessy v. Ferguson The Plessy v. Ferguson case was one of the most important and pivotal cases in the United States supreme court history. Due to both the content of the case, and the time in American history at which the case was argued, this case is thought to be vital in describing American History. The case itself originated when Homer Adolph Plessy, a 1/8 African American sat on a white car in a train. Plessy did in fact look white, and the authorities wouldn’t have realised that this was happening if it hadn’t been for a reporting. Plessy was part of a group who wanted to try racial segregation in the court, and see how strong it really is, therefore this whole activity was planned in an effort to help stop and bring attention

This strain yields dense, bright green, glistening buds that are accented by orange hairs. Chester delivers a tropical yet creamy aroma that fills the room with subtle notes of pineapple and mango. Chester's rich aroma and complex flavours are perfectly complemented by its rare balance between THC and CBD that go together just like peanut butter and jam.
What really is in a name? Apparently, there is a lot. In Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s story, "What's in a Name," there is a telling story about a young boy learning the powerful pain and humiliation in the racist practices of American society. Gates illustrates how racism can perpetuate prejudice that aims to take away individual identity and put entire groups of people down. Yet, the fact that Skip was willing to never look Mr. Wilson in the yes again shows that Gates himself was not going to just take the racism any longer, but was willing to fight it in his own unique way.
In “Delusions of Grandeur” by Henry Louis Gates Junior, Gates elaborates that Black youths should be given the opportunity to pursue a career that doesn’t involve being drafted into a professional sport. Gates brings to light the mishaps of the schools in the black communities that don 't push for scholarly students for chances at aspiring to go to college. He also speaks upon African Americans should not be seen just as athletes but are able to further in an education as a doctor, lawyer, engineer and much more. Today Black professional athletes should not be more respected than black professionals such as doctors, lawyers and educators.
The approach which Mr. Gates has espoused is founded on the utilitarian code of ethics as advocated by John Stuart Mill. This code of ethics emphasizes that an individual’s ethical behavior must not be founded on which that brings the highest good for the highest number (Mill, 2007). Until now, the philanthropist has committed over $20 billion dollars of his wealth to a range of grounds, consisting of the enhancing the living standards in much of sub-Sharan Africa. The mogul has well persuaded similar billionaires that this approach to altruistic work by far is the most significant approach.
At birth everyone is given a name by their parents. Your name is part of your identity and how you are addressed and recognized by the world. The different verities among the population created other names given to different races. These names are offensive, demeaning and are only used to refer to a person in a disrespectful manner. They can also cause a segregation among a nations people, these names are forced upon people weather they are rich or poor, old or young, male or female and are used to describe the same race of people. In the class reading "What 's in a Name? “by Henry Louis Gates he reminisces about a personal experience of his that he had with his father. In the story he describes his father was a hard worker and, because of this he was in high financial standings and, he was well respected and given privileges that at the time was rare for people of his race but he was still black and his name, his individual identity was not important instead he was given a racial identity, this is the only thing he was known as, this type of negative recognition is something many black Americans can relate to. One’s race is a predominant part of our identity and is what causes discrimination.

When people think of a hero they think of Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, but what they should think of are people that make difference. Gates strives to reach his audience in an effective way as well as establish his own credibility. This is shown the moment he begins delivering his speech. Gates opens with various humorous remarks, specifically a few satirical phrases regarding himself. Gates grabs the attention of his audience making the remark, “I’m just happy that the Crimson has called me ‘Harvard’s most successful dropout.” (Gates). As the speech becomes more serious, Gates steers away from humor and replaces it with more of an anecdotal approach. Gates describes going to Davos saying that the global health panel was “so boring I couldn't bear it. What made that experience especially striking was that I had just come from an event where we were introducing version 13 of some piece of software,” (Gates). This anecdote shows Gates’ honesty and common human quality of impatience, and then proves his credibility by reestablishing his success in the field of technology by bringing up the event he attended prior.
