Vaccines are among the most affordable and successful public health tools for preventing disease, disability, and sometimes death. Not only do they protect a vaccinated individual from developing a potentially deadly disease, but they also lead to protecting an entire community by reducing the spread of infectious agents. Although vaccines have many beneficial factors to it, there are still some problems in using them. Many vaccines may include side effects that can lead to autism or even death. Vaccinations have many benefits including the prevention of certain diseases but they also can cause issues and be very riskful in using them to treat or prevent a disease. Some of these issues include the ethic dilemma behind the subject.

This poses the question that if vaccinations can protect a child from a major illness why are parents choosing not to vaccinate their children?

According to the CDC (2014) vaccinations are one of the best ways to put an end to the serious effects of certain diseases, some that can be deadly. Parents who choose not to vaccinate their children are not just gambling with their child’s life, they are also gambling with the lives of others. It is always better to prevent a disease than to have to treat it after it occurs. People with weakened immune systems are not as strong such as pregnant women, newborns, cancer patients, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive people, transplant recipients, and the elderly are also affected by the choice not to vaccinate.

I believe the biggest dilemma for organizations that have serious regulatory issues is the potential that these regulations will affect profit or make these businesses unappealing for new entries. Vaccinations are a preparation given to patients that provides acquired immunity to a specific disease. They contain either a live, weakened part or an inactive form created from a dead version of the viruses, causing the body to produce antibodies that will attack the virus if the body later comes into contact with the disease. A person can reduce the severity or eliminate the contraction of the disease completely. However, vaccinations have become a controversial topic and parts of the population refuse to get vaccinated. The result is a reduction in vaccinations, causing epidemics of deadly and highly communicable diseases once virtually eliminated due to vaccinations. This topic is extremely significant to my audience because a growing number of parents do not vaccinate their children due to fear of side effects. Treatments will depend on the type of symptoms that are minor or major. Side effects involved with this disease will be.
