Dr. Gerald P. Schaus talked about ancient Stymphalos. Stymphalos was a town in the Peloponnese mountains near the ancient Arcadia and it was known for killing the birds by Herakles. There was a river in the Peloponnese, but the water is getting less now. There was a man who visited the site at the lake in 1960. He saw the ancient city, recognize things there, and keep it in mind. Later, he was able to come back and revisit this place. In 1980, UBC worked on a project there. They found two sites, three volumes and a floor mosaic. The Floor mosaic showed 12 labours and Herakles. Since these labours doesn’t look difficult to fight with, the archaeologist thought that Myth exaggerated the story of Herakles. The real excavation started in 1994.
As hunters across the state venture out into Alaska's forests and tundra in hopes of filling their freezer with moose meat, hunters in the Lower kuskokwim have bit the bullet and hung up their rifles. They are entering the first year of a self-imposed five-year moose-hunting moratorium they hope will significantly improve their moose hunting in the future.“The main stem of the Lower Kuskokwim is one of the few places left in Alaska that has outstanding moose habitat and extremely low numbers of moose,” said Roger Seavoy, the Bethel area biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Göbekli Tepe is a very interesting archaeological site that is located at the top of the mountain limestone ridge in Southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border (Banning 620). It is known as the earliest monumental building, or temple, that mankind has ever created and it was built even before the stage of agriculture, which dates back to some 11,600 years ago (Mann 1st page). Göbekli Tepe belongs to the PPN (Pre-Pottery Neolithic) in terms of its chronological context in world prehistory (Banning 620). In fact, the site can be divided into three different stratigraphic levels that are level 3, level 2A, and level 2B (Banning 620). Level 3 is the oldest level which appears to date back to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (PPNA) (Banning 621). Each of the buildings measured 15 m by 10 m and contained T-shaped monoliths surrounded by a wall made of stone and mortar (Banning 621). Two U-stone shaped entrances could by identified in two of the buildings (Banning 621). However, the most monumental aspect of the Göbekli Tepe can be attributed to the sophisticated carvings of wild animals, such as scorpions and boars, on the pillars which appears in the pillars of level 3 and level 2A (Banning 621). Moreover, Level 2A, which dates to Middle PPNB, has smaller and more rectangular buildings than Level 3 and it contains delicately implemented tiled floors and T pillars without any decorations (Banning 621). Level 2B dates to the time between level 3 and level 2A, however,

During World War II, Hitler created many different death camps and transit camps. One transit camp in particular is Theresienstadt. It is located near Prague, Czechoslovakia and its alternate name is Terezin. Theresienstadt was a transit camp that was supposed to be a “model” camp to do away with the accusations of murder of the Jewish people. Theresienstadt had a movie made about it even though its conditions were terrible, it had its own form of “government”, and it was a camp where children left their art and poems before their death.

Throughout history, archaeology has been a tool used to learn more about past human activities and their cultures by analyzing artifacts, architecture, environment data, and etc. that has been left behind. Many artifacts and monuments became instrumental in expanding the knowledge of the past and the Hagia Triada Sarcophagus is no exception. By analyzing the physical details such as size/dimensions, material, style, images depicted, and the location of the artifact, this can help people determine the reason and purpose of its existence. Eventually this can lead to how it may change or add to the knowledge of the classical world.
The media plays a big role in society. Watching television, listening to the radio, and news media are a staple in American day to day activities (Mantsios 610). The media makes Americans in the United States unaware that there is a stratification of class in America. “We maintain these illusions, in large part, the media hides gross inequalities from public view. In those instances when inequalities are revealed, we are provided with messages that obscure the nature of class realities and blame the victims of class-dominated society for their own plight,” (Mantsios 610). When we think of other countries, such as Africa, the first thing that comes to mind is the starving children of Africa. In the US, the media does not show the people who
As I was watching one of the nurses as she was saying, “I’m going go between your bums; just letting you know,” as she sanitized a half-naked man who was suffering from pancreatitis, I only had one thought: I want to get out of here.
