High Blood Pressure occurs when there is high pressure in the arteries and the blood vessels are narrow or stiff, which makes the heart pumps harder to get blood through the rest of the body. High Blood Pressure is a health issue that many people today are forced to live with. It is a condition that is increasing more and more each day. There is approximately about 1 in every 3 adults in the United States, which has been estimated to be around 73 million people. • Alcohol use: People who are sensitive to alcohol, by drinking 1 to 2 drinks per day raise their blood pressure.
• Birth Control Pills: Some women develop high blood pressure while taking birth control.
• Lack of exercise
• Medications: Certain drugs, such as amphetamines, diet pills and the use of some cold and allergy medications.
High Blood Pressure is a disease that is called the “silent killer”. It is called this, because you can have high blood pressure for years without even knowing that you have it. The only way you can detect if you have it, is if you have yourself tested. Some of the symptoms are normal everyday things that we have such as headaches, and dizziness.
High blood pressure (HBP) has a significant amount on me and my family because have of the family has it on both sides. My family has high blood pressure because we have all the things that cannot be changed, such as heredity, age, sodium sensitivity and race. In order for us to keep everyone healthy, we all pull together and make sure that everyone is eating right, exercising and taking their medications.
