I am currently a biology major with a minor in chemistry and a pre-professional concentration. Being a Hispanic woman and first generation, educational and professional opportunity and equality are challenging. That being the case, with my determination to overcome the odds, it is my ultimate goal to become a pediatrician and open my own pediatric practice focusing on helping low income families. With the establishment of my own practice I plan on giving equal attention and health services to all despite their financial situation. At this moment my goal is to finish undergraduate school and attend medical school. With persistent determination I believe I will achieve this and accomplish my goal. Growing up, my family was very supportive and always motivated me to do anything I put my mind to, even though most of them did not do so for many reasons. Some of those reasons included a lack of encouragement, low finances, little opportunity and even the absence of an inspirational figure. Fortunately, despite my limitations, I had the support system I needed. I was also lucky enough to have an inspirational figure that allowed me to discover what my true passion was and what my ultimate goal was at an early age. My cousin is a specialist physician in Miami and spending time seeing and understanding what he does has guided …show more content…
Once I have completed that, I plan on returning to my home town in Naples, Florida to open my own pediatric practice. My goal is to become a facility that is able to work with and provide for those struggling with insurance issues, healthcare, etc. My ambition with this vision is to hopefully begin the domino effect and have establishments like mine arise all over the country. If not to such a great scale, I wish to give others the drive, determination, and fortitude to also pursue their similar goals despite any hardships in their
I want to work in the pediatric field. I want to work with children. That has always been my dream since I was a child. I know a lot about taking care of kids already
While growing up in Mobile, Alabama, I have always dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. My mother has been very supportive of my aspirations to attend college and become a pediatrician. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school and the first to attend college, which she never completed. Before graduating from high school, I knew that I wanted to obtain a degree elsewhere and not Mobile. Many of the steps I took to achieve this goal were unfamiliar to my family and me. These experiences have taught me that working consistently to achieve my
I was a patient of yours at South County Pediatrics for many years and am interested in shadowing you for a few weeks this summer. This past year, I completed my freshman year at the University of Arizona as a Physiology Major with a minor in Public Health. In the future, I aspire to go to medical school to become a physician or surgeon.
My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of ‘Bottlecappers,’ a club advocating anti-drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today.
I have always been energized by competition. Sometimes too much so, as I have difficulty maintaining interest in an activity if there is not a competitive aspect to it.
I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
Pediatrics is my career passion. My life ambition is to become a remarkable and respected physician.
Remember elementary school? Back in the good old days when your parents thought you were the next Picasso because you could smear a few different crayons together to make a glob of colors? Or when you learned how to play chopsticks on the piano and you were the next Mozart? My parents were just like the rest of the world obsessing that me or my brother were “special” or “gifted” until we turned out to be just average.
I am very interested in attending Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life sciences and pursuing a major in Biology and Society. Pursuing this major allows me to incorporate a passion of mine, Biology, in the context of the sociocultural forces it is sure to be applied in. This is not only intellectually stimulating but also relevant to my upbringing.
Ever since I was younger, I yearned to help sick children. I am from an area where children are plagued by a variety of illnesses, and because of the insufficient doctors, the children may die. This originated my goal to become a pediatrician. My goal in this school is to broaden my knowledge about the science and medical field and create a path for me to pursue my goal of becoming a pediatrician in the future.
I aspire to become a pediatrician who treats childhood diseases, communicates with children and their parents advising them on treatments and other problems, such as obesity and teen pregnancy. (Become a Pediatrician - Careers – The College Board, n.d.) I’ll go to Stockton Collegiate International and then, attend Stanford in Fremont, CA, for four years. (How to Become a Pediatric Doctor Education and Career Roadmap, 2013, January 1) Next, I’d go to medical school for another four years and complete the residency of three years right after. (How to Become a Pediatric Doctor Education and Career Roadmap, 2013, January 1) Then, my final step would be the licensing exam and start working as a pediatrician in a hospital
With each passing minute, 21 children under the age of five die primarily from avoidable causes. The silent killers to blame are hunger, poverty, and easily preventable diseases. Centered upon with my current academic courses and contributions in extracurricular activities, and my future academic and extracurricular aspirations, I aim to provide humanitarian and medical aid the world deserves. My rigorous academic curriculum coincides with my goal to eventually have the essential knowledge required to be able to help people. Over the course of my high school career, I immersed myself into five Advanced Placement courses.
When my grandparents came to visit ten years ago, they brought me a 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. To most children, this would not sound very exciting, almost as disappointing as a shirt saying “My grandparents went to Disney World, and all they brought me was this dumb shirt.” My reaction to the puzzle was different. I immediately cut open the cardboard box and poured the pieces out onto the nearest table. I worked patiently and enthusiastically on the puzzle for hours at a time, my excitement building as more of the image of the solar system was revealed. The puzzle overshadowed all else in my life, if only for that short period of time.
My ultimate goal for the future is to work in a hospital as a physical therapist. I enjoy helping others and it is a dream of mine to help rehabilitate people who have suffered a trauma or illness. I plan to attend the University of Findlay studying physical therapy with a minor in Spanish. I hope to use Spanish to communicate with my future patients. Physical therapy is a way for me to help others and do something I love. I chose physical therapy because I was fascinated by their extensive knowledge on how the body works. It is a goal of mine to work in a children’s hospital. A hospital like Nationwide Children’s Hospital is where I see myself working. I have always enjoyed being around children, so this type of environment is where I would
When I was a little girl, I remember being asked what I wanted to be when I got older. Back then growing up seemed like centuries away, but the years have flown by like minutes. Now I am a month away from being a legal adult and on the brink of discovery. Opportunities are around every corner. This year I have asked myself what I want to have as my profession. The answer came without delay; I want to be a pediatrician. I have always loved people, especially children and the elderly, and I love going out in the community and getting my hands dirty. The area where I was born and raised, is in dire straights as far as the medical field goes. Good health care is hard to come by,
