As you’re in high school, dress code plays a big role. You try to keep up with fashion but you have to be careful because you have so many rules and regulations for the clothes that you wear. Your clothes represent who you are and your personality! Many teens spend so much money on picking out their wardrobe, but nowadays you have to second guess about the outfits you want to buy for school. So, should high schools be more lenient or more strict on dress code? Many people think that high school shouldn’t have too many rules for dress code and some people think that schools should have uniforms. Yes, schools should have the basic dress code rules like, no spaghetti strapped shirts, no strapless dresses, and no shorts that are too short.
Dress code is administration telling us what we can and cannot wear. Some people believe we should wear uniform, because there's less judgment on what people wear and it's easier to choose what you're wearing in the morning before school. Some people also believe there should be no dress code so students can express their selves and be in the comfort of what they chose to wear. In 2016 at Cy-Fair high school we have a very strict dress code. Cy-Fairs dress code is very bias. I think we should have a dress code but students should not be able to wear super revealing clothing. Student should be able to wear what they want to express themselves and shouldn't be told what they can and cannot wear just because it "distracts" others.
Dress code has been the biggest topic in Treasure Coast High School. There have been many meetings regarding that issue. There should be dress codes for students for many reasons. Some of TCHS dress code rules are collared shirts tucked in, must have sleeves with necklines, shorts/dresses must be at knee length and turtle necks. Like Mallika Sherawat said, “To undress is the dress code these days and I didn’t start it. We are all voyeurs, so why the complaints? Until girls don’t walk in a swimsuit on the stage, they don’t get the crown, so why is everyone so holier-than-thou?”
We should have dress codes because some people feel insecure about their appearances. If we start wearing inappropriate school clothes, such as shorts and tank tops then some people may feel insecure. They may not feel good about how they look and this could cause serious behavior problems and interfere with school work and socializing.
School dress codes are very debated. Should we have it? Or should we just have uniforms? It is a broad topic, that many people talk about. In the ASRMS student handbook, (page 36), the dress code states, “In order to create an environment conducive to student learning, the school requires students to dress appropriately for an educational setting. Students shall not wear clothing items that contain messages that are vulgar, obscene or libelous; that denigrate others on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability; that promote alcohol or drug use or violence; or that are otherwise disruptive to the educational process.” It also states that students are not allowed to
Rachel Adams is not like any other girl in her city. Taught secretly by her father how to use weapons, Rachel is simply prepared to be a warrior. When her father, Jared, does not return from his mission and is announced dead, she primes herself to be assigned to a new protector - Oliver, her grandfather. Everything changes though when the commander (a power hungry leader) announces that Logan, her father’s apprentice and the boy she used to love, who didn’t love her back, was assigned as her protector. Left with belief that her father is indeed still alive, she escapes to the Wasteland to find him by herself. Little does she know that what’s in the Wasteland could completely change herself and cause harm to others whom she loves… especially
Why should schools modify their dress codes? All throughout the United States, schools have dress codes. Some dress codes have meaning full and low dress code rules, others have rules that make teens feel uncomfortable and get punished for. Daily students are judged on how they dress. Dealing with a dress code takes time and effort for a teen to understand why they are being punished.
There are many reasons why dress code should not be a policy at schools. The dress code usually targets girls and is completely sexist. Hardly is it ever the case where the male is getting dress coded. It’s always the girls who have shorts that are “too short” or are showing “too much” shoulders. Dress code is also often saying that it’s a girls responsibility to not distract
I agree that all schools should have dress codes because of the fact that with strict dress codes can deter school shootings or bring the % down, take the columbine shooting for example, the kids that were responsible for the shooting were wearing long jackets with deep enough pockets to hide weapons.
The classic bespectacled female characters in Hitchcock who illustrate this semiotic phenomenon are illustrations of how a woman’s difference will result in her eventual punishment or elimination-whether symbolically as with Midge being cast aside by Scottie or literally as with Miriam being murdered by Bruno. The semiotic power of “woman-in-glasses” have cut across film, literature, psychology, sociology, rhetoric and popular culture, commercialism and day-today lives. Tzvetan Todorov notices a conincidence between “themes of vision” and “images of sight”, usually involving the symbolism of the eyeglasses, which “permit penetration into our marvellous universe” (121). For this reason the eyeglasses-coupled with the mysterious Otherness
High School should not have dress codes. Dress codes are going to be broken no matter what. Kids like to express their feelings through music, their rooms and you guessed it their clothing. Yes some kids go over the top with their clothing but if your going to punish anybody then punish them. But with that I think high school should have dress codes. With great freedom comes great responsibility. If you want to be the center of attention then go somewhere else and do that. School is for learning not showing off who has the better clothing or who has the new kicks. Learn things that your going to need in the world. Like if you want to be a professor than you are going to need a lot of math, reading , history and etc. No one cares what you
In conclusion, dress codes should not exist, as they strip people of their first amendment rights, they demolish creativity and they place major holes in people's wallets. If all our schools didn’t have dress codes than the whole world could be a better place in general. One way people can fix this is by telling students that to wear whatever they deem appropriate.
I will support the idea that dress codes should stay in schools. One reason is because it will protect you from public exposure from people. An example of this would be too much skin being shown you probably wouldn’t want to be showing thing off too much. I would recommend that you dress that you dress normal, because you wouldn’t want people to look at you weird all the time.
These dress codes only create problems for students. Fashion, style and kids taste in clothing is changing every day. Limiting a student's freedom of expression proves to be detrimental to students mental health and development. These changes in style should not dictate whether a student should be allowed in school wearing such attire. Detentions and suspensions are not the answer to breaches of dress codes. Allowing kids freedom of expression through clothing will make students happier and more self confident in how they act and what they do. The sooner kids find confidence in what they do, the better. It is high time for schools to revise these dress codes to be more suitable for kids of
Many schools use dress codes for many different reasons, but are dress codes actually a good thing? Dress codes have been around for a long time, and most of the schools in the world use them. Whether they are minor dress codes, like no skimpy outfits, or full blown uniforms, they are used. Dress codes are not necessarily a good thing to have, though. Dress codes should only slightly have enforcement due to allowing students to have the freedom of dress as well as not having to pay for special clothes to wear.
School dress code tends to only target females, making them feel stressed and miss school time.
