In the United States alone, 1.2 millions high school students drop out each year. The challenges of dropping out can be detrimental to a teens future. The long term effects can impact the way they live and and succeed. Thankfully, a numerous amount of suggestions have been created to make student’s lives easier. Dropping out is caused by a wide variety of reasons, and many different actions have been taken to improve the overall rates.
Although an abundant number of students believe staying in school is prevalent, there are still many who drop out for various reasons. According to “Why Students Drop Out, The Economical Pressures That Make Leaving School Unavoidable”, “Roughly 30 percent of students who drop out of school between the ages of 16 and 18 are working in a variety of jobs, according to a new study by the Urban Institute, a nonprofit research group based in Washington, D.C” (Rosales, 1). This is particularly important because people often assume that students who drop out do it out of lack of integrity. This proves that not all students drop out for the wrong reasons. For instance, some students who drop out due to working needs many want to stay in school to fulfil their education, but are unable to because of personal conflicts.
