There are so many religions around the world that it is hard to understand what their beliefs are. Religion can influence in culture, art, and politics. Religions also can impact in many ways but can learn about some certain religions to know about more religions. Two of the religions are Hinduism and Islam. Hinduism and Islamic religion have been around for centuries, but Hinduism is older than Islamic religion. Those two religions interested me to know about their places, the services, and worship. The two religions places that I went are Hinduism Temple and Islamic Mosque. When I went to the Hinduism temple they were friendly, welcoming, and they will try to help you understand about their religion. There are many gods in Hinduism and …show more content…
The Hinduism that she follows does not allow to harming animals or nature for their own desire. These are some of the rules that they have to follow to be able to reach certain level. The Hindus worship is differently from other religions. Normally they pray early in the morning around 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. One of the prayers is called Arthi. They pray this prayer two times a day the temple she goes to for her religion. Some of other temples pray three times a day which is called Magdha. In the afternoon and evenings they have to pray every day and they cannot be skipped on those prayers times. On the religion large Shiva saved the world and there is a famous river called Ganga River in India. People who believe in this religion go there to take a bath in the river. The people who go take bath in Ganga River will get in paradise. Ganga River originally came from Large Shiva. They believe Large Shiva saved the world by drinking poison drink to save the world. So when people go to the river they put cold water on the river so they can flesh out the poison from Large Shiva. Another thing when they go to prayer women cover their head when they do Arthi. There are many types of festival in Hinduism. One of the festival they celebrate in here is called Holy Gidhibali. They paint their faces with colors and before they do this festival,
Chapter 4: Hindu Traditions Each culture and religion has its own set of traditions and customs. Actually, sociologists claim that civilizations cannot be considered as such if they have no unique traditions. Since Hinduism is known as the oldest religion in the whole world, it is pretty obvious that it has a lot of traditions and customs. Some of these traditions are extremely important that believers are willing to sacrifice lives for them. This chapter will discuss some of the most common customs and traditions observed by Hindus.
Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion. India, being the birthplace to many other religions such as Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, somehow managed to keep Hinduism as the leading religion in India to date. We will take a look into the devotion of Hindu religion and explore the symbols and significance of events during puja. In order to provide the best understanding of Hinduism, therefore we will explore the practices of today vs. practices of centuries past. Observing major components of Bhakti will help shed light on the importance of those who worship under these ancient and sacred teachings. With the use of Van der Leeuw’s Braided Method throughout the text, it will provide a reassurance that biases or discrimination are unwelcome, nevertheless a neutral standpoint of an observer’s position will be asserted (Cantelo 2016).
Hinduism, the world’s oldest religion, is the third largest religion in the world after Islam and Christianity with close to one billion followers. The followers of the religion are called Hindus and are mainly located in India, and their place of worship is a temple. The religion doesn’t have any one specific founder, however,
Every society is based on different religion. Different people follow different types of religion according to their birth or by choice. The major religions of the world are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Judaism. Each religion is similar and different from one another in terms of festivals, practices and beliefs. Apart from Christianity, Hinduism and Islam are the two most widely practiced religions in the world today. They have their own traditions, beliefs and practices. These two religions are similar to some extent and differ in terms of the God they worship, religious text and the place where they offer their prayers.
Those who are raised within one religious tradition may find it difficult to understand the traditions of another religion. It is not until one is educated in the basics of the other major world religions, that it is possible to see the many similarities between them. Just as there are many similarities between the countries culturally, the major religions share more things than they are different. In viewing Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism with an open mind, it is easy to see the differences, similarities and ideals that make these religions as widespread as they are.
In this class we have learn about five different religion, which are Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism and Christianity. We discussed the beliefs/doctrines,ituals/practices, Ethics and Social Formations/Institutions of every region.
Each religion has a different perspective but most important is where the religions generated from. Major religions started in various parts of the world.
Both of the religions Hinduism and Judaism are similar but different in their own ways. Hinduism worships many gods and goddesses, whereas Judaism is a confirmedly monotheistic religion. In the Hinduism religion the bedrock is the belief that the Vedas is sacred and the caste system decribed in it. “Hinduism is a guide to life, and the goal of which is to reach union with Brahman, the unchanging ultimate reality”(75). The dharma or moral law that need to be followed. There are many gods that were worshiped and each person may worship a different god. Images of the gods in homes or temples were presented where each person can show devotion to their personal gods by singing hymns or offering flowers before the images. The Hindus believe in many things such as that the universe undergoes and endless cycle of creation, believe in karma, that the soul reincarnates, the belief that all life is sacred.
In addition, Hindu Temples such as Malibu Hindu Temple has a correlation to the universe itself and to the body of divine beings. In the case of India, followers believe that a single glimpse of the temple tower is enough to destroy one’s sins (P 317). Apart from the practice of temple worship followers of Hinduism their devotion to spiritual teacher or to their deities through puja rituals that are performed at home. Followers of Hinduism set aside some spaces of a cabinet shelf at their home to act as a shrine to hold small images or pictures of their revered figures. In addition, family members engage themselves in daily puja whereby they recite prayers, they offer food to their deity, and they light oil lamps and incense sticks. Similarly, Hindus engage themselves in elaborate rituals such as giving an offering to the Satyanarayana on the days of the full-moon. Most of the domestic rituals are conducted by women, for example in the case of India, women come together on certain days of the year to celebrate the goddess by fasting, feasting, and engaging themselves in auspiciousness rituals for the happiness of their
Religion is a combination of beliefs, ceremonies and set of rules used to follow god or group of gods. I myself belong from a monotheistic religion, known as Islam. Islam is second largest religion in the world. Islam is revealed through Mohammad as a prophet of god. Quran is the holy book of Islam. The Quran was first revealed to Prophet Mohammad, being a messenger of god he started telling those teachings to the people of Mecca and Madinah. After that, people started to convert to Islam. I always wanted to know that how Hinduism is a monotheistic religion because Hindus believe in so many gods. I also wanted to know that why Hindu temples have a bell at their entrance. That’s why I choose Hinduism as my experience project.
The first religion I am going to talk about is Hinduism. One of Hinduism followers basic beliefs is Brahman. Belief in Brahman is believing that he is the one true God who is formless and eternal. It is the eternal truth and bliss that does not change yet it's the cause of all change. They believe truth is eternal.
Contrary to popular belief, the religion of Islam does not have that much in common with the religions that share its common geographic space, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, or Confucianism. With these religions, there is much focus on either worshiping many gods and the idea of reincarnation, or reaching Nirvana, a state of total inner peace. However, when talking about Islam, one would look towards Judaism and Christianity as being sister religions. The three religions, and civilizations
One religion I know about is Hinduism. Hinduism has been named the oldest religion in the world. People that are Hindu are polytheistic, in which they believe in many gods such as Ganesha. Ganesha is the God of success, is the most worshiped, and is very distinguishable because of his elephant head. Some people that worship Ganesha live in Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal. Hindus believe in the continuing circle of birth, life, death, and rebirth. They believe that when you die, you reincarnate into something else like and animal, plant, or insect.
Hinduism and Islam are two of the world’s great religions however, they differ in many regards including their beliefs in god, their ethical beliefs and the afterlife in fact, it would be quite difficult to find to two religions more different then Islam and Hinduism. One major difference is in their belief in god, Muslims are steadfastly monotheistic where Hindus are very much polytheistic. Another key difference is their views on the afterlife Hindus believe in reincarnation, whereas Muslims believe in a heaven and a hell with the faithful going to heaven and the evil going to hell. The two religions also differ in the their ethical beliefs where Hindus follow the Law of Manu and Muslims turn to the Quran for their ethical guidance (Hopfe & Woodward, 2012). While both Islam and Hinduism advocate for a better overall person amongst it believers, they have vastly different approaches to achieve this result
Amongst the various religions practice are Islam and Hinduism. Both of these religions are widely practiced by people who believe in the same ideals or concepts. These separate religions are similar to one another, but also contrasting. Common themes can be found between Hinduism and Islam, but the differences are predominant as well.
