Born on August 11, 1973 in Bronx, Hip Hop was the main gateway for the voice of African Americans to be heard and recognized. The art of Hip Hop wasn’t only limited to DJ’ing and rapping; the term hip-hop refers to a complex culture, which consist of four basic ingredients: deejaying, or “turntabling”; rapping, also known as “MCing” or “rhyming”; graffiti painting; and breakdancing or “breaking”. The movie Straight Outta Compton very well captures the revolutionary hip-hop group from Compton, California named N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudes). The group consisted of 5 members; Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, and MC Ren. The movie is based on a true story and looks very true to life because the actors were very carefully and precisely chosen to play their specific roles. Directed by F. Gary Gray, who is very well known for directing The Italian Job, the movie Straight Outta Compton was a huge box-office success. With a budget of 28 Million Dollars, it has earned the worldwide Box Office of 201 Million Dollars. Perhaps the huge success was thanks to the producers who were actual members of N.W.A; Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Because of their first-hand experience on all the events and their contribution to the movie, the movie was able to achieve a huge success. The song title was so culturally shocking and controversial that the word “fuck” wasn’t printed on the album cover. Instead, the song title appeared as “blank-blank-blank-blank Tha Police” with directions that instructed the listeners to “fill in the blanks.” Straight Outta Compton was one of the first hip-hop albums to be enforced to put a small “parental advisory” sign that warned potential listeners on the front of the album record; it read, “These Songs Contain Explicit Lyrics: Parental Guidance
