Many Americans today embrace the culture of hip-hop. Since hip-hop became mainstream its influence has surrounded most Americans. McWhorter have offered harsh critiques of hip-hop for delaying and marring the success of black people. McWhorter asserts hip-hop music “celebrates a ghetto life of unending violence and criminality(10).” He believes hip-hop contributes to the stereotype nearly all Americans maintain in regard to black people. Hip Hop is a genre of music that was born around 70’s. This type of music doesn’t really involve singing but words that are spoken. Hip Hop is in a poetic form with simple phrases and it usually has end rhyme. The music genre known as Hip-Hop produces positive effects on teenagers of this generation.

Most subcultures like hip hop, started out in the low ranks of culture. They often used what they had, in order to achieve their satisfaction in their distinctive characteristics. But with Hip Hop music, fashion, and entertainment consumed across the world, it became the mainstream of American society. The media paints a poor picture of Hip Hop, even after what is has evolved to and it does not show the advantages of a this new industry. The world of Hip Hop does not, as a whole, possess the same ideals of violence it once did; they now project wealth and ideals all the world over, and thus has a stronger impact on change then it ever did. Hip Hop is a global brand, no longer confined to single community or group of people. No longer does a man need to live and work in the ghetto to reap the benefits of Hip Hop’s guidance and advice. Hip Hop’s light shines brighter and farther today than ever before; it is a global force for the poor, and discriminated that yearn to breathe free all throughout the world.

In the early 70’s Hip Hop was the most popular music for not just black but other races. I think that Hip Hop can Positive and negative. Old Hip Hop is inspirational and motivational it bring out a message that you can learn form. New generation Hip Hop has changed to a more negative inspiration to the community. New generation tries to focus on the bad thing that are going on around you. It bring a bad option to our race because other races think that all blacks act the same. Most new generation Hip Hop influences people to do drugs, alcohol, money, and sex. Real Hip Hop comes from your heart.

Since its conception, hip hop has been a very necessary and influential art form in the way that it gives a voice to people who would normally not have one. The fact that it was often the sole voice for a marginalized community meant that the genre has often shouldered the “burden of being a genuine political force.” Hip hop’s role in addressing the concerns of urban Black Americans has led people to refer to it as “CNN for Black people.” However, in recent times, the commercialization of the genre (and growing popularity with white audiences) has generated a lot of criticism from many who feel that the essence of hip hop is being destroyed and it does not have as much of a meaningful effect on dispossessed Black youth as it used to have.

Analysis of Hip-Hop and Youth Culture Throughout the last twenty-five years, a new form of expression has continued to evolve. Hip-Hop, once limited to urban music and dance has become a widespread form of communication exhibited and enjoyed by young people throughout the world. Hip-Hop is no longer limited to rap music and break dancing; today it represents a multi-billion dollar industry that influences everything from fashion to prime- time television programming, professional sports, mass media marketing and advertising. Today Hip-Hop is becoming a way of life, a culture that is intricately woven into every aspect of young people's daily lives.

In addition to increasing awareness of issues that are going on in America, Hip Hop gives youth a needed outlet from their lives and an outlet for self-expression. Many hip hop artists rap and talk Their poverty and daily struggles they experienced while growing up in an inner-city America. Many rappers like Kanye West and Logic now use their platform to talk about rising to the top and the obstacles they overcame. Those messages implanted in the music give hope to younger kids going through the same situation. For example, when an artists talks and raps about their distressed childhood with drug-addicted and abusive parents. A kid going through the same situation and get through it easier and see that if this person made it out so can I. When

Hip hop is a huge inspiration to young adults now. Some of the inspiration is positive and some of its is negative. Hip hop was art back in the 90s and it was sung about stuff that was actually happening in the rappers lives or stuff going on. While now it's only about drugs and sex which is so mainstream.The South Bronx hip hop scene emerged in the 1970s from neighbourhood block parties thrown by the Ghetto Brothers and others like tupac and NWA were some real rappers now we only have so many.

Hip Hop culture has come from a inner city expression of life to a multi-billion dollar business. At the beginning of the new millennium it was the top selling genre in the pop charts. It had influences not only on music, but on fashion, film, television, and print. In 2004 Hip Hop celebrated its 30th year anniversary. It wasn’t big for the fact that it was still kicking. It was big because the once Black/Brown inner city culture had grown into a multi-billion dollar global phenomenon (Reeves). Hip Hop culture has provided a platform for all walks of life to speak their mind. Over the past 36 years it has provided us with both entertainment and controversy alike and had a huge impact on our nation’s history. `

You’re standing in a crowd amongst thousands of fans at an Eminem concert, people from all over, shoulder to shoulder in a massive stadium, singing along every word of their favorite song for hours. People from all over are connected to each other through the power of music. When it comes to music, the life experiences, inspiration, and current events play a tremendously significant role. Hip hop is a form of art which can be expressed through rap songs, break-dancing, and graffiti art. The culture has become so popular that it has entered today’s fashion and modern language. Hip hop music is an extremely large part of today’s generation and a global genre, which influences the generation all over the world.

Hip Hop as a genre has always been stylistically, sonically, and emotionally unique. Forming itself as a result of the most fundamental human emotions, hip hop sought out to be seen as serious in presenting itself. Something to not be taken lightly. There’s a good reason for this too, as a genre predominantly controlled by minorities and predominantly criticized by people not belonging in those minorities, it needed a way to defend itself. Rap would have never become what it is today if it didn’t take itself seriously and the artists didn’t write about things that mattered or connected to people. However, Hip Hop as we know it is transforming directly in front of us and is becoming a new form of rap entirely;

Yet, some of the images that are shown in the media are the reason why hip hop culture is viewed as an infectious genre of music that will put kids in jail. This culture has come a long way from what it used to be. It has reached from one end of the globe to the other. It has spanned across all ages, all races, and all ethnicities.
