Throughout all the years I have been involved with sports, I’ve learned Michael Jordan is one of the most prolific athletes of his time. We define success as achieving wealth, respect, or fame, and Jordan has accomplished more than most men will even attempt in their lifetime. Some try and compare today’s superstar athletes such as LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant with the great Michael Jordan, but I am here to tell you that is impossible. Jordan changed the game and made it what it is today. Jordan’s life is filled with struggle and triumph. Despite all of the obstacles he faced, he still became one of the best basketball players of his time.
Like most of us, Michael Jordan grew up in a normal home with normal family members. Jordan was the fourth of five kids being raised by their mother and father, Deloris and James Jordan. The Jordan family moved from Brooklyn, New York to North Carolina, where the young superstar could make a name for himself. Just as Canadian recording artist Drake expresses in his popular new single, Michael Jordan actually “started from the bottom” so far at the bottom that he got cut from the high school basketball team his sophomore year for not being tall enough. This motivated Jordan to do great things later in his life; he was quoted in his later years saying “Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up.
