The mission of the Historic Downtown Chelan Association is to develop and promote the historic core of Chelan by creating an inviting and vibrant community center while emphasizing enhancement and preservation of tow's historic features. Throughout the year, Historic Downtown Chelan merchants invite locals and tourists alike to discover Chelan's unique downtown history through special events and promotions. When deciding to go to a historical site in the city, I was drawn in by the history of the place. I am relatively new to the city and when I heard about this place, I knew that’s where I wanted to go. When our group traveled together to the site, it became apparent why this building is not only important to Detroit, but to all cities. A trading post built in 1838 on Spring Creek marked the arrival of American settlers in the area that was to become Spring, Texas.
