Football History and Evolution Aspects of the game can be traced back to the early second and third century BC in China. Military manuals at the time describe an exercise called Tsu Chu, in which players used a leather ball filled with feathers and hair. The aim of the game was to get the ball into a small net fixed on to bamboo canes while attempting the opposing team from doing the same to their net. Variations of the game are also documented in Egyptian and Greek society (History Channel, 2013) The main rules that make you modern day football we established in England 1854, the standard dimensions of the ball we later agreed in 1863 and finally the duration of the game was set in 1866.(FIFA). The first football competition in the word, the FA cup was established in 1872 and involved 50 teams. The first international game of football was played between England and Scotland in 1872. The game spread fairly rapidly across the world from then on with FIFA being established in 1904 with 7 founding member countries. The first world cup was held in 1930. By 2007 there were 207 member countries part of FIFA representing almost every country in the world. (FIFA, 2016) The use of technology on the refereeing of the game has been minute as it is feared it would not be 100% reliable and slow down the game. However recently goal line technology has been introduced to make sure the ball has crossed the line before a goal can be awarded. On the playing side of the game new technology
