Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about one of the history of alcohol and its evolution.

A. Attention Getter: Charles Bukowski, one of the most famous poets, novelists and writers, once said (n.d),“That’s the problem with drinking, I thought, as I poured myself a drink. If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate; and if nothing happens you drink to make something happen.” Alcohol is one of the most used and misused drugs known to man. As Frank Sinatra once implied (n.d), “Alcohol may be a man’s enemy… but the Bible says love your enemy.”
B. Reason to Listen: Alcohol isn’t one of the modern time phenomena, but experts discovered that liquor was used over 10,000 years ago.
C. Thesis Statement: Alcohol has been used by several cultures and has survived till our recent times.
D. Credibility Statement:
1. I was amazed by the history of alcohol and its background.
2. I have used articles and several online resources to complete my research about the past of alcohol.
