A very important moment in my life was when I won my very first state championship for hockey. My team and i were headed to Dallas, Texas for a tournament in the 2007-08 season. We were quite nervous for this trip because it was an invitation only tournament. We arrived in Dallas around 9 pm so we had to get a good nights sleep right away in order to be prepared for our game the following day. Although waking up in the morning is hard now; waking up early then was a hoot. We loved it for some reason. When we got to the game, we did the usual warmup: streching with the team, taping our sticks, and getting ourselves pumped up and ready to go for the game. We went out there and won leaving our best effort on the ice. As the games went on we made it to the …show more content…
Happy, the team and I went out for a celebratory Arizona Sun Dogs hockey game(jr. hockey team). While at the game some of the other teams fans started chanting "let's go Brahmas!" over and over again so we retaliated with "let's go Sun Dogs!" One thing led to another and we were throwing souvenir hockey pucks at each other. We had a great but painful night so, having a championship game the next day, we went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Next morning was all serious because we really were eager to win that championship and bring home the banner to our organization for the third year in a row!Come game time we were ready to leave everything out on the ice and win with nothing but our blood sweat and tears. We played through a rough game that we came back from losing 4-2 to tying it up at 4 a piece. Being a championship game, we proceeded past overtime having no one scored and were headed to a shootout. We were
The most memorable thing that happened to me would have to be when I got to see my favorite sports team play, the Detroit Tigers. This was my first time ever watching them play and I was excited to see what I was about to encounter. It was a hot summer day when we went to Comerica Park, when we went to go see them play. Our seats we right on the first base line, a perfect spot for a foul ball to come my way. The Tigers were winning throughout the whole game up on the last inning Miguel Cabrera hit a walk off home run that won them the game. Going to the game was a great opportunity for me to get to see the skills and work that they put into the game. This helped me see just how important it is to work as a team and support each other on and
We all celebrated our greatest achievement as a team winning the championship game and ending the season with only two loses. My play that I had just completed still shocked me, I never thought I would have got two outs against a great team in one play. The funny thing was that I did not even think what I was doing, so I do not know how I did it! Nevertheless, I
In this essay Martin Preib, a small town journalist and police officer records his daily life on the job as rookie police officer. On Preib’s second day out of the Chicago Police Academy, sergeant handed him a large, heavy plastic bag and informed him that this would be a good experience. He was also provided with an enclosed truck that was slightly bigger than a van with “Police” on on its sides and rear. The wagon was used to not only transport newly arrested suspects for questioning or lockup but to carry dead bodies to the morgue. During the progression of the essay, Preib describes transporting patients in body bags, how he has an unlikely connection with his female partner, trains a younger officer and finds himself with people that are rendered invisible or forgotten by society. Preib depicts the complication of race and class in the heavily populated urban area.
The best thing that ever happened to me is when my baseball team beat Brandon Valley for the first place position in regionals. Brandon Valley was our rivals and we hated each other for not really any reason. We knew at the start of the game that winning this would put us in first place. We had lost to Brandon Valley twice before but they were beatable. It was a home game near the end of July and sunny. The conditions were great for baseball. Our nerves were high and waiting for the game to start seemed like an eternity.
We were on our way to Indianapolis for Nationals. My friend Brett and I stayed up until three in the morning waiting for my father to come pick us up. My dad arrived around three-thirty in the morning. We arrived at Victory Field around eight-thirty that morning. Victory Field is where the Indianapolis Indians play. They’re the triple-a team for the Cleveland Indians. My dad had to go to a coaches meeting so Brett and I went and walked around the stadium. Eventually, when the meeting was over we headed to our hotel. Once we got to the hotel we checked in and went to our game. Our first game, we faced a team from Indiana. They couldn’t handle us and we won 27-4. Our second game we beat another Indiana team 8-2. It was now bracket time and we
I took a deep breath. It was the big championship game and we had 10 minutes left on the clock and the score was 10-7 we were down by 3. We had 3 runners on the base and 2 outs I was on deck and Brooke was up to bat. I pulled her over to the side and said “you got this were only down by three and I got your back. We have no outs so take your time and hit the ball.” Brooke said “ok thanks and we got this”. The pitcher threw the ball and Brooke hit the ball. It went straight down the 3rd base line. She got a single and now the score was 10-8, I was up. The pitcher through one right down the middle I hit a line drive right to center field and got a double, MG was running home as fast as lightning and slid into home barely making it. The game was
All the emotions started sinking in as we started to cry with joy. After all the crying, we went to say “good game” for sportsmanship and returned to the mound to complete a bet. We bet Coach Cadena that if we went undefeated for the whole season, the team got to dogpile on him. And we did. All of us returned to the dugout with all of our families and the baseball team congratulating us. Seeing my fathers’ face with a huge smile made me feel so great he got to see me play with four single hits and no outs. I made a contribution to the game that I was awarded second region team. During the end of the awards ceremony, when we hold the championship plaque, all of us had the biggest smiles on our faces and returned home with
It had been a long season, many losses, but many learning moments, we were second to last in the league and only had about ten wins. The only thing we had going for us, the playoffs. We had tied the West Kent Hawks and beat two other teams 7-1 and 10-2 to make it here, and there I was. Sitting in the locker room with a blank stare and hands hanging from my chest guard, this is usually what happens before games. I was anxious to get on the ice, but neverous too, because this is how the little caesars playoffs work.
Right when the trophy came to my hands, it felt great. Everybody was cheering for us when I went to go pick up the trophy. That could have been the most exciting times in my life. Throughout my life I will never forget that day I scored the winning goal.
When we left the arena it was around 10:30. We went back to the hotel and went to bed just to get up to wrestle again the next day. We get to the arena and they do a parade of wrestlers so we waited in one of the floors entrances and the smell was horrific, I was relief when we started the parade just get out of the smell. After the parade and national anthem, I was up quickly. The first match of the day went out and won 8-1, which means I would place top 6. The second match went into double OT and with 15 seconds left he locks his hands and I win 2-1. Now with one match left and going for 3rd I wanted to leave everything out there. Finally, match I went out to the center and my opponent was about 5’4, and he was stocky and was built, and when that whistle blew I knew I was outmuscled and he won 10-3. Walking off the mat I just thought to myself “What did I just accomplished in the past 2 years” and at that point, I knew wrestling was my sport. I thought I would never see a grown man cry but after that match, I saw my dad just tear up. After getting my award we waited till the tournament was over because they were keeping a team score. When the final match was over the total the score and we won with a total 243.5 for 2A
The team wasn’t too great, we won about as many times as we lost, but that was fine. I struggled beyond belief, leading the team in strikeouts at the plate. One night we were in a tied up game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. We managed to get a runner to third, but with two outs I couldn’t bunt. Once I had watched the first two pitches go by for strikes I knew I had to be looking to swing and come through. I had a feeling that everyone assumed I was about to strike out once again. But once I saw the pitch leave the pitcher’s hand, I knew it was all mine and connected on a line drive to left-center field. Hearing all of my teammates and the parents yell for me felt amazing. The ball landed landed deep in the outfield and as soon as I reached first base I realized I has just hit my first walk-off ever as the run crossed home to score the winning run. Soon my teammates ran out to bash my helmet and congratulate me on my feat. I’ll always carry that moment as my favorite sports memory of all time and I will never forget
Friday night rolled around, it was the game we had all been working so hard for. Knowing we were seniors, we knew it would be the end of the journey.
I have never felt more nervous than in the locker room before my region game in Pierre to advance to the state tournament. My teammates and I were gathered in the locker room before the game like we usually are, but this was different. The feeling of knowing that this was our last chance of going to the state tournament and playing for a championship was on the line. I remember it was so quite. I had headphones on, and so many thoughts were traveling my mind. The music blasting in my ears was a blur and all I could hear was my own heart beating. Coach Gardner entered the room and had the coaching staff with him preparing to give his pregame speech. After he relieved some of our stress and nerves, we were ready. We broke down the huddle and jogged down the dark hall to the court. I will never forget walking onto the court hearing the screeching cheers and seeing the sea of purple on one side of the court and red on the other.
It is also assumed that the act of telling a story can provide insight into past, present and future events (Espinoza, 1997). By going through this process, individuals can find the importance of certain events and assign roles to people who are a part of their story. This act can allow a client to find new meaning and understanding to their reality (Espinoza, 1997). Not only is a
With the game tied 6-6 that is when I went into my own little zone and was in my moment. The crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8-6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special moment.
