Having a headache is one of the most common ways of affecting peoples lives. For years headaches have been putting people in bad moods, causing fights, and even causing serious health problems. Let me start by describing what is a headache and the types. A headache is a pain in the head caused by dilation of cerebral arteries or muscle contractions or a reaction to drugs (Diamond & Falk,1982). There are many types of headaches people get, here are some and what they are. A migraine is thought to be associated with an abnormal spasm of the blood vessels in the brain and is therefore referred to as a "vascular headache". The application sites for the treatment and well known Chinese acupuncture points (Tamura and Chang, 2003). All patients related improvement of the migraine they had with maximal response achieved after 2 weeks from receiving the treatment. Four of the patients said it completely improved their headaches. The intensity of headaches did not change that much in the first week after the treatment but after the 10th day pain decreased drastically. There was significant improvement in patients with acupuncture site-guided botulinum toxin injection. It showed to be a safe and effective therapy for migraine (Tamura and Chang, 2003) Another alternative approach to treat and prevent headaches is Massage Therapy. Recently, the practice of massage therapy has grown remarkably in the United States. It has become more widely accepted as a medical practice by doctors as well as the general public. "Massage is defined as: ...the systematic manual or mechanical manipulations of the soft tissues of the body by such movements as rubbing, kneading, pressing, rolling, slapping, and tapping, for therapeutic purposes such as promoting circulation of the blood and lymph, relaxation of muscles, relief from pain, restoration of metabolic balance, and other benefits both physical and mental" ( The American Massage Therapy Association, 2004 ).
