Holistic medicine is defined in different ways. Overall, it emphases on how the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual fundamentals of a person are connected to maintain health. As soon as one part is not functioning well, it is believed to affect the whole person. Holistic methods focus on the whole person rather than just on the illness or part of the body that is not healthy.

In an holistic method to treatment, there is the belief that our health not only depends on what is going on in our body physically in terms of illness or disease, however also on the close inter-relation of this with our mental, emotional, social, religious and environmental state. These different conditions can be equally important.
However while resulting to traditional medical practices, holistic nurses may also join complimentary and alternative medicine. These will consist of meditation, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and dietary recommendations. Holistic nurses also provides supplementation with natural herbs and medications where they don’t affect with the patient’s existing prescriptions
