The Holocaust can be described with a number of words. The words that come to mind when I think about the Holocaust would be the discrimination towards many groups of people, hatred against these groups of people, and the forgiveness if any was forgave to the Nazis for the horrendous things they did to such innocent people.
When thinking of the Holocaust and the discrimination included in it, we tend to think that only the jews were the ones “living” in the death camps, but that is false. Jews along with Political Prisoners (Communist, Socialists, and Trade Unionists),Gypsies, Jehovah Witnesses, Disabled Individuals and Homosexuals were all prisoners in these concentration camps because Hitler didn’t like them for …show more content…

This torture began with stripping the prisoners of their clothes, shaving all the hair on their bodies, and giving them a tattoo on their forearm. The disgusting living quarters were also a part of this torturous treatment and was so bad even animals shouldn’t have been living that way, but not only were the living conditions bad, but the way the “prisoners” were inflicted with such maltreatment was terrible. All of this treatment happened because of one man named Adolf Hitler who was a Nazi and wanted power, and the more he could get, the better. “It is easier to tell kids about those who escaped (the survivors and their rescuers) than to focus on the millions who were victims and perpetrators and bystanders.”Rochman, Hazel. Those who survived the trip and made it to the concentration camps were forced to work, and if they didn’t work “properly” or according to the Nazi’s standards, then they would be killed, whether it be from gas chambers also known as “showers”, being shot …show more content…

Forgiveness is a word that could eventually come up, but I do not believe that it came up soon after being saved possibly because of fear, anger, sadness, etc, from the survivors. Before forgiving, one must realize “To approach the Holocaust's impact, then, is to engage with a past that has not passed, an event that defies designation.”Mandel, Naomi. “Ethics after Auschwitz: the Holocaust in History and Representation.”Criticism, vol. 45, no. 4, 2003, p. 509. Literature Resource Center, link.galegroup.com/apps/doc/A121283932/GLS?u=j036903001&sid=GLS&xid=113ca8a0. Accessed 19 May 2018. It is not easy to forgive someone for doing such horrible things to you, your relatives, neighbors, and even strangers to you. When seeing how these people are being treated and realizing that you are being treated the same way, you want to do something about it, yet know you can’t find a way around it. Forgiveness eventually came from the survivors, presently because after all, they are alive, saved, and know the past is in the past, but they can always educate others on what happened from their experiences so that this occurrence never happens again. Once people began to forgive those responsible for these actions, they knew ways to
