Homosexuals should be able to Adopt Children Today we live in a generation, where many are reclusive because they are not what society want them to be. In this parched generation, we are exposed to many networks of modern shows about gay families. But we have not been encountered to one network that have two lesbian moms adopting children. Until I was introduced to one of my favorite shows in 2013 “The Fosters,” one of the the solid television show on ABC family network. For four years, watching how these two mothers take care and protect the lives of their adopted children. Defintely changed my views about homsexual not being able to adopt children. According to the most recent data from the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Adoption and Foster Care Analysis Reporting System (AFCARS), it is estimated that there are 500,000 children in foster care nationally, and 100,000 need to be adopted, according to the ACLU.(family.findlaw.com).Gay parents are able to help in focusing on the welfare of children and give every child that they adopt the opportunity in living in a loving family.(planting seeds …show more content…

The studies conclude that children of gay or lesbian parents are no different than their counterparts raised by heterosexual parents. In "Children of Lesbian and Gay Parents," a 1992 article in Child Development, Charlotte Patterson states, "Despite dire predictions about children based on well-known theories of psychosocial development, and despite the accumulation of a substantial body of research investigating these issues, not a single study has found children of gay or lesbian parents to be disadvantaged in any significant respect relative to children of heterosexual parents."(family.findlaw.com) Homosexuals have the ability to do anything a heterosexual can do. The AAP cites "evidence that children with parents who are homosexual can have the same advantages and the same expectations for health, adjustment, and development as can children whose parents are heterosexual." Note the key word: can. "All the literature suggests that as long as a parent is providing a loving, caring environment, the parent's sexual orientation doesn't make a difference in the development of the child," says a co-author of the AAP policy. Again, note the key phrase: as long as.
