The Salt Lake Bees are a Triple A, minor league baseball team that play in the Pacific Coast League(PCL), and are based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They started off as the Portland Beavers in 1903, playing at Vaughn Park. Following their 1993 season, the Bees moved to the beautiful Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah, forming the Salt Lake Buzz. Smith’s Ballpark opened in 1994, and is one of the largest baseball stadiums in all of Minor League Baseball, seating 15,411 fans. On October 27, 2005, the Buzz transformed into the Salt Lake Bees, and resulted in a change in their major league affiliation, going from the Minnesota Twins to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Modesto Bee is a California daily paper, established in 1884 as the Daily Evening News and distributed constantly as a day by day under an assortment of names. Preceding its buy by Charles K. McClatchy and McClatchy Newspapers in 1924, it converged around the same time with the Modesto News-Herald, embracing that name as a major aspect of a combination. In 1933 it changed its name to the Modesto Bee and News-Herald, and in 1975 truncated the name on its masthead to the Modesto Bee. Its present proprietor, is the relative firm, McClatchy Company, an American daily paper organization.

In the book, The Secret Life of Bees, there is a significant bond within the female community in Lily’s life. These women not only teach Lily to love herself and others, but to pursue love. It is through the guidance of her community, Deborah. Rosaleen, the Boatwright sisters, and the Daughters of Mary, that Lily is able to gain strength and growth, mentally and emotionally. Her journey begins with two women who are Lily’s first mother figures, Deborah and Rosaleen.

In the early morning in Illinois, a yellow and black honey bee was sipping away at a lavender flower, which is called a wild lilac, a popular flower that many honey bees get their nectar from, so it can bring back the nectar to it’s hive. When the bee is all done, it starts to fly back to their hive.

The book by the name of The Secret Life of Bees written by Sue Monk Kidd is about a white girl named Lily Owens who goes on a journey to find more about her dead mother who passed away when she was young. She finds herself in the Boatwright’s house (home of the honey makers) that is strictly for African-American women because she believes that her mother spent much of her life there. Lily finds herself dealing with frequent racial issues as the story takes place in Southern Carolina during the Civil Rights Movement. By the end of this book, I can say that I enjoyed the novel because of the themes the author includes. First off, it shows the progression in Lily’s ignorance in terms of being more educated. The book I chose as my free choice report was The Secret Life of Bees written by Sue Monk Kidd. I found the book to be exceedingly well written and eminently captivating. As soon as I began reading, I could not bring myself to abstain from reading for more than a few hours. The novel was about a young teen named Lily who is trying to acquire more about her late mother.

The bee can be many colors like, yellow,black,red,and white due the hair.There eyes can be a different color than just black.Not all bees collect pollen and nectar some may collect plant oils instead.The bee can bee very strong,mean, and very territorial by hovering there territorial.

The mothers, the Boatwright sisters and the Daughters of Mary, help Lily to grow as a person and as a young lady. Without the queens in her life, Lily would forever be lost on who she is and her outlook on the future would be dull as she would have no purpose to move on in life. The women help Lily to realize that regret and the past should not hold you back from your future. Like bees, Lily needed a queen or multiple to guide her in life; The Secret Life Of Bees teaches one that the love and affection from an adult figure can help a person to grow and learn who he/she truly is. Leaving T. Ray ultimately gives Lily mothers who will always be there to catch her when she falls and who will love her unconditionally.
