Do you ever wonder how many species of honey bees there are? Are they originally native Canadians? Why don’t we see honeybees anymore?What is their role of honeybees in the ecosystem? What has affected their population?
They are 20 000 species of honey bee in the world, they all have a different ecological niche. They have a different habitat in the way they live, and eat.Honeybees were brought by the Europeans in the 1600s to the North America, honey bees spreaded throughout the area. Honey bees produce honey and pollinate crops (they are dependant on fruits and nuts).
The most important role of honeybees in the ecosystem is pollination it’s the process which pollen is transformed to female reproducing organs of the plant,it’s how other species connect with the honey bees, so they can get honey or pollen from them. Not all honey bees are created to collect nectars from the flower and pollinate them.
Human impacts affect the environment in numerous ways, by increasing water, air, and soil pollution, and increase greenhouse gases in the atmosphere causing global warming, because more energy is trapped in the climate system.
Colony collapse disorder is when sustaining the hive will be difficult most of the bee workers disappear and the queen is left all alone with the immature bees to take care of.

Pesticides because some farmers/people spray pesticides on their crops to kill insects, rodents, fungi, weeds, and pests that damage the crops. when animals/organisms eat from the plants that have pesticides they will eventually die. It is important that we get our food, but bees also help fertilize different species and make it so we aren’t just eating one plant, but that we have hundreds of different types of produce to choose from.
The bees never seem to catch a break which is putting the bees under “stress” which is a factor. Furthermore, when they are pollinating all these different plants some are not nutritious as others, for example cucumbers aren’t as healthy as some of the other plants but there is still a demand for them, so the bees still have to work and eventually become unhealthy if they aren’t getting the right nutrients. Another factor is pesticides, which has many different points of view but overall it has come to decided it is not the pesticides themselves that are killing masses of bees but it is lowering their immune system and making it easier for them to get sick, for example with the common parasite Nosema. Nosema is a parasite in the digestive track of the honey bee that attacks the entire hive and can eventually wipe out the whole hive. The effects of the pesticides are ultimately never letting the hives reach their maximum potential, which in the end could render the hives weak and lethargic. There are so many pesticides out there it is hard to tell exactly what component in the pesticide is hurting the bees. It is recently found that the inert ingredients used often to boost the effectiveness of the pesticide are actually more harmful than the actual toxic ingredients
Honeybees are a massive part of most of the world's agricultural. Many plants rely on the honeybee to pollinate and allow the continued growth of their species. Many crops also rely on these insects. Honeybees pollinate three quarters of our major food crops. What would happen if most of the bee population disappeared? Would the human race die out? Would have to find alternative methods of pollination? How would this affect the rest of the environment? Many of these questions would be erased if there was a major change in the way people treat bees. The decline of the honeybee population will become a major threat to the US, unless the population initiates a major change in the beekeeping industry.

They have a much greater importance than most people realize, and taking them for granted could put a lot of resources at risk. Their population is constantly declining from factors society can control, revise and work to reverse. There are a few causes that are contributing to the decline of honeybees and humans need to step up and save them. (Greenpeace) Neglect and carelessness is a major contribution to the decline of honeybees, making it a priority to recognize, understand and change practices in order to fix the damage caused, and guarantee honey bees will stick around for future generations. All of society depends of the honey bee to fertilize and pollinate. Without bees pollinating the plants that produce food could not be fertilized. Crops and plants would suffer and stop bearing fruits and vegetables. For example; “watermelon, apples, pears, strawberries, almonds, corn, cucumbers and tomatoes” would stop being produced. These are very popular foods that are part of the average daily diet.
Bees have existed for about 100 million years, and they have played an important role in the pollination of plants. A long time ago, pollination was crucial to the balance of the food chain. Without it there would have been no food for the herbivores and they would have become extinct; so no food for the meat eaters. The sudden drop of these honeybees has given poor nutrition to crops and prevents from growing. CCD is linked to the high amounts of pesticide being emitted onto our crops and vegetables. This has made it harder on the honeybees to effectively pollinate and spread their pollen onto other crops. “By far the most important contribution honey bees make to modern agriculture is the pollination services that they provide. Fifty-two of the 115 leading global food commodities depend on honeybee pollination for either fruit or seed set”(vanEngelsdorp, 2010. Para. 4). In the process of visiting these flowers, pollen sticks to the bees—but some of it also comes off in the flowers. This activity of bees is the primary way that plants are pollinated. Some types of fruits and vegetables must be pollinated to produce food. Without bees, we would not have the variety of foods that humans and animals depend on.
