Dry Creek station was likely built in the spring of 1860 by Bolivar Roberts and his crew. It was one of the last stations to be built by the Pony Express. It is located four miles north of Highway 50, in Lander County, Nevada. The station was used by the Pony Express and Overland Stage as a home station (historic). The Pony Express riders would go from Dry Creek westward to the north (expedition.com). The riders had a high chance of getting attacked by the Native Americans and this proved to be true at Dry Creek. They had early problems with the Indians, which caused an attack on the workers of the station on May 21, 1860. The Grand Coulee Dam(G.C.D) changed Kettle Falls forever. Kettle Falls was a peaceful river where Native Americans fished every year. It is said that around 3,000 fish were fished every year. Then in 1933, everything changed when the Grand Coulee Dam started construction and finished on June 1, 1942, that is almost a decade. I feel like it is good that we built the Grand Coulee Dam. The Dam has great effects that have benefitted Washington. Two of them are the jobs people got in the Great Depression and Irrigation we got.

The Buffalo Creek flood of West Virginia is believed to be the most devastating coal relate disaster in West Virginia history. The flood occurred in the Buffalo Creek area of Logan County on February 26, 1972 when three dams broke and released 132 million gallons of water and coal waste known by miners as “gob,” and is a thick sludge-like material. The gob contains many toxic chemicals and pollutants such as mercury and arsenic that are left behind from the coal mining process. The wastewater would lie in settling ponds and dams until it could be properly disposed of. The water that was left over from processing coal would be disposed of in two different ways. Seventy-five years ago today was the beginning of some terrible times along the Tug River. At that time, what is now Mingo County, was a part of Logan County, home of the Hatfields. Across the Tug is Pike County, home of the McCoys. The McCoy’s lived in Pike County, Kentucky area while the Hatfields lived in Logan County, West Virginia area. The two were separated by the Tug River. The majority of the family members on each side fought during the American Civil war. They all fought on the confederate side except for Asa Harmon McCoy. He was the one “traitor” of the family and fought or the Union. Devil Anse Hatfield was the head of the Hatfield’s while Randolph McCoy lead the McCoy family. Over a span of roughly 20 years the dam saw many upgrades such as new turbines and better concrete. These upgrades allow it to generate 990 million kWh annually. The Dam is located 126 km away from Winnipeg and 72 km away from Lake Winnipeg.

Based on the events that lead to the devastating floods in Queensland and the eventual case that was brought against the engineers of the dam, there have been views from both sides of the divide as to whether or not the actions taken by the engineers were actually ethical or otherwise. We have explored this avenue and have found that both sides of the divide have good reasons to justify their actions. Firstly, we shall explore the avenue that the engineers decisions were appropriate and ethical. It can be said that the engineers did employ act utilitarianism in their decisions and actions, hence causing these decisions to be ethically correct. Lake Tahoe holds a dear place in my heart because it is one of the most often destinations for our family vacations. I lost count of how many times I have been there. For every occasion, it is just the place to go to. It is such a relaxing place, at least for the weekend I do not have to worry about anything. Lake Tahoe is a very green place to be in California. California is a very dry state and having forests like Lake Tahoe is something to be proud of. It attracts thousands of visitors each year and has numerous activities to do there. Not only is Lake Tahoe extremely beautiful, but it has many ecological features.
