Thailand tourism plays an important role in its economic development and the hotel business is part of it. Tourism industry and hotel businesses are influence and supporting each other. The activities of hotel businesses are issues that had a much impact on the environment. The global warming phenomenon has been dramatically increasing. Environmental crisis has become one of the world’s most serious problems to be concerned about caused by increasing world population. People had doubled the consumption of natural resource (Webster, 2005).
Activities from tourism have affected directly and indirectly the ecosystems. For instance, coral reefs is damaged by tourists such as trampling, buying, or collecting reefs species which has a direct

Employees are important to organizations, and can be improved or underdeveloped organizational performance (Huselid, 1995; Hoque, 2000). Therefore, in environmental management, it needs supporters’ participatory approach to shared environmental responsibility among the hotel employees in order to achieve the same goal and solve problems in environmental management.
Moreover, employees are considered key to the survival of competitive organizations, especially in light of the new economic environment of globalization and employment where employees' qualities, attitudes, and behavior in the workplace could affect the performance of organizations. Therefore, Human Resource Management (HRM) has become a critical issue for the hotel industry (Nolan, 2002). In addition, Wattana (2009) she is an Asst. Director of Human Resources of Novotel Bangkok Hotel in Siam Square states that a good employees’ attitude is important for hotels. Attitude and personality in working that is a first one organization will consider because a positive thinking can make employees intend to take the job learning. That is more important than anything else.
The environmental management and responsibilities by hotels in developing countries is still relatively rare. The actions can improve the knowledge and understanding by providing information on the responsiveness of hotels towards
Businesses who participate in environmentally friendly practices will become more profitable. There are difficulties and costs that a business will face and profit takes time but is proven to positively impact a business. “The reluctance to address the forces that are polluting the planet always comes down to money (Smith, “6 Reasons Nations Don't Go Green.”). Implementing environmentally friendly practices within a company “will win them customers, and increase profits” (McDonald, “Why Do (or Don’t) Companies Go Green?”). Many global companies today carry out environmental management tools to adapt to environmentally friendly practices, which helps gain customers, and in turn becomes more profitable. In this paper, I will go into further detail explaining why businesses should be more environmentally friendly, the benefits to be gained, costs that come with being environmentally friendly, and management ways that help a company become environmentally friendly.
However, the Travel and Tourism industry has not only some benefits and also drawbacks. Tourism can cause its share of problems such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage, ecological degradation, pollution and noise. For instance, much of the corals on Pulau Payar Marine Park, Langkawi, Malaysia were damaged due to mass arrival of tourists as the travel operators has allowed 600 to 700 tourists on the island at a time [4]. One hand, there is a push to bring in tourists dollars but on the other little is done to protect the precious biodiversity which is its main attraction. These problems have been recognized by many involved in tourism and have become
It must make sure that all the employees are aware of the causes behind implementing the eco-friendly practices. So, it must conduct regular seminars, workshops, and employee training sessions. There have been several instances where the economic downturn has greatly affected the goals and objectives of the hotel. As they were focusing on many activities at the same time, they could not manage timely payment of the staffs. They were focusing on increasing the volume of business, so they had to interact with many buyers and sellers.
Environmentalism has become a great concern in all sectors of business, evidenced by the recent jump in energy prices, and empirical data provided by several different environmental and scientific agencies. The Hotel industry is no different, in fact, it would benefit greatly from the recent push for all businesses and business sectors to "Go Green." Yet, the industry has long resisted the changes, and is only recently catching up to other industries that have converted their operations to have greener strategies.
The vision/mission behind the Good Hotel concept is to maintain its identity as a “hotel with a conscience” – encompassing a positive attitude, environmental sensitive, and philanthropy. The intent of the vision is to inspire the “good in us all”. (Pearce, 2012, p. 10-1, 10-2)
Waterfront is a priority economic area for local, regional and national development (NACOMA, 2007). Waterfront-based activities can provide employment but they are also likely to cause social and environmental impact. Biological hotspots, breeding areas, environmental sensitive areas may suffer from uncontrolled tourism development and activities. These impacts however can be effectively mitigated through careful planning and design of sustainable tourism activities.
Human activity largely impacts the Great Barrier Reef, from tourists to wider world issues such as climate change humans are widely responsible for damaging many ecosystems. Tourism has both negative and positive effects on the Great Barrier Reef. The main positive is the revenue that the tourism creates for local communities, this money can also go towards the upkeep of the area surrounding the Great Barrier Reef, and also by helping spread the message of how delicate the Great Barrier Reef’s ecosystem is. However tourism also has many negative impacts on the Great Barrier Reef. With more people in one area, the demand for natural resources increases. This can result in the overuse of natural resources as well as producing more waste and pollution. Some tourists may also not obey the rules at the Great Barrier Reef, this can cause damage to different organisms in the Great Barrier Reef.
In recent years, environmental issues are being a fundamental topic around the world as the public have been aware of the risks to our planet because of the harmful human being, such as deforestation, over-consumption of energy, different kinds of pollution, over-construction, which are incurring serious climate change and global warming. The replacement on the Millenium Development Goals to 17 sustainable development goals also alerted people to concern about how to make a better environment in a sustainable way under a high density urban city, where there are constructions contributed to this community. Especially in hotel industry, a surge of travelers leaded to the increase of hotel, which required plenty of land, energy and resources to achieve this huge demand. However, there are several factors we need to consider before the launch of the project, which are how to design a sustainable green hotel with a long term vision instead of becoming a ‘stranded asset’ in the future. So, in the following is my location and design of my hotel, considering environmental factors and integrating five sustainable development principles in my concept.
There is no one best definition for sustainability. The simplest and most fundamental meaning would be “the ability to sustain” or otherwise “the capacity to endure”. It can also be defined as a need for our generation to manage the resources base efficiently so that the average quality of life that we ensure ourselves can potentially be shared by all future generations.
Tourism has a large impact on the reef system at Lady Musgrave Island with the millions of people who have and will visit the island at one point in their life. These results did not give an accurate picture as there were many other parts of the reef that weren’t included in these results. Due to this, there could have been more coral impacts or more animals surrounding the reef in other areas that were not included in these results collected. Therefore, the reef ecosystem creates many positive effects for humans and animals alike. However, it can be ruined easily with a simple touch or by leaving waste behind that could damage the reef or hurt the animals living in that
The environment is also a beneficiary of the hotel’s environmentally friendly programs aimed at reducing the use of chemical agents used in the upkeep of the hotel.
Many hotels utilize sustainability as a strategy setting for operations, and as a critical success factor (Boerner, 2010). A company become more sustainable by evaluating the positive and negative environmental, economic, and socio cultural impacts on hospitality industry and helps the operation to be in profit and minimize waste or harmful aspects. Environmental certification program for hotels Provides technical guidance. Participating facilities area warded between 1and5 Green Keys depending on loyalty to criteria (LRA Worldwide,
This report is going to present the importance of planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, reward management in the human resource management of hotel industry. For detailed consideration,
The Travel and Tourism industry is still one of the largest single businesses in world commerce and its importance is widely recognized. The tourism industry is now one of the largest sectors earning foreign exchange. In the face of many benefits, many countries have started assigning due weight age to the tourism industry in their national development agenda. Tourism is an industry that operates on a massively broad scale: it embraces activities ranging from the smallest sea-side hotel; to air-lines, multi-national hotel chains and major international tour operators. Originally, non-traditional industries such as tourism emerged as a solution to strike a balance between ecology and industry
Looking specifically at the environmental side of things hotels can be quite wasteful and exhaust a lot of resources. In business’ using a lot of energy can be very expensive so, therefore. these business’ need to take that into account and find ways of decreasing the amount
