S.E. Hinton wrote the novel Rumble Fish to focus on the main protagonist, Rusty-James, living a rough childhood in a small town. While focusing mostly on him, she also dives deep into his best friend Steve. Rusty and Steve have an interesting relationship which brings out the positives and negatives in one another. Steve is the complete opposite of Rusty, yet the two are closer than ever.

In the book, House of the Red Fish, the protagonist, Tomi, and the antagonist Keet Wilson compete. During World War 2, on the islands of Hawai’i, Tomi and friends are trying to raise a sunken boat while Keet Wilson and his army of “BMTC Punks” are trying to stop him.

A big part of the story was when he figured out what to do with the boat after he rose it up. The way he figured it out was when him and his friends where talking about baseball people from kaka’ako for man power when, Tomi thought of one of the kaka’ako boy’s dad and tomi knew he could repair boats. Another example of tomi being smart was when he seen his little sister playing with a tennis ball in the water bucket and seen it pop back up, tomi figued out how to raise the boat by adding something with air to make it pop out of the

The examples of royalty would be trying to hold a promise even though it is tough, treating people that you don’t like with respect, and helping others because you care for them. One example of loyalty from the book (House of the Red Fish) is that Nakaji family had lived on the Wilson’s property and weren’t treated nicely and they hated them but the Nakaji family still gave the Wilson’s some of their eggs. Another time that showed royalty was the time the Keet Wilson had ripped the fish kites but they had treat them with respect and did not do that again.

In the film Red Dog, loyalty is something that is shown many times. The community members are loyal to each other, although loyalty is mostly conveyed through Red Dog. Red Dog is loyal and brings the community together. Vanno describes Red Dog as “a very loyal doggy”. This means Red Dog is being loyal and is standing with the men till the appropriate deadline. Red dog is everyone’s loyal little dog, but no one’s in particular. He always stays with the men and women bringing them into a finer community. Numerous days/weeks later Red goes looking all over the place looking for John asking one simple question “have you seen John?” This shows Red Dog is loyal because he sticks to John looking around to find him. As much as humans don’t want to admit it, the world wasn’t solely created for us. The novel, Ishmael, written by Daniel Quinn has given us an insight on how the world has been treated by man and how it could end. In a time where the world is being destroyed we need to step up and protect the earth from total destruction.

Loyalty has always been seen as a commendable trait, not only in human beings but in any creature, all through history. Soldiers have admired their enemies for their loyalty to fallen comrades, thousands of stories have been written about the intense loyalty animals portray for their owners, and even companies in the workforce look for loyalty in potential employees. Loyalty has been seen as something that distinguishes the trustworthy from the untrustworthy, and something that sets the great apart from the good. The archetypal hero commonly has a cause, whether it be another person or personal beliefs, that they are loyal to, and this unwavering loyalty is what makes them appear so highly in the eyes of the reader. Loyalty can be found in practically any work of literature, but within The Torah, The Odyssey, and Inanna is the idea that true loyalty, although a rare attribute, is the key to a successful relationship.

Based on the main character’s descriptions, he was remarkably a special person. The main character in House Of The Red Fish is named Tomi-kun. He was rare and is not ordinary person throughout this story. One example of his uniqueness would be his race.

After doing the presentation on Dr. Seuss and this book, I also found that this book was speculated to be written around the book, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. I also knew that they had the same characters, but I didn't read that this book was morphed into One Fish; I think that would be a very interesting speculation. As you stated though, the book was nearly finished so that would be hard to prove. Onto the other part of your post, I think you raise a very important question whether or not we were ready for the What Pet Should I Get book. We will never know if we were truly ready for this book, but I think that it does show how Dr. Seuss was ready to acknowledge these injustices way back in 1960. That is pretty crazy to think about.

Not everyone possesses the quality of loyalty, but those that do are worth having a relationship with. The author of Cue for Treason, Geoffry Trease, demonstrates this trait in many of the characters. The most loyal bond in this book, which took place very early on in the novel, was Peter and Kit’s. One of the most significant bonds has to be amongst the Secret Agents, the Queen, and all of England. Lastly, the most heroic form of loyalty is portrayed by Tom Boyd, Peter, and Kit. Each one of these characters do not betray each other once. So, several characters in the novel show loyalty to one another throughout.

The civilization, Land of Fish, is based off a Japanese themed civilization that is located in coastal China at c. 500-600 CE. The civilization borrows from Japan, China, Athens, and Rome, and is a syncretic blend of language, art, architecture, writing, religion, and government of the aforementioned civilizations with a unique social structure.
