College Reflection Essay
Society has changed so much over the years that it almost becomes necessary to have a higher education. Before, one could get a job without a college degree and be stable. In today's society, things are getting expensive and someone with only a high school diploma would get paid less than someone with a degree doing the same job. According to Author Cowen in “Graduates’ Pay Is Slipping, but Still Outpaces Others” , “Even a cashier with a college degree makes more than a cashier without a college degree.” A cashier job doesn't require a college degree but someone with a degree doing the same thing is getting paid more. My first question regarding her college experience was, “What was the most challenging thing you faced in college?” Jennifer answered, “The most challenging thing was adjusting to the area because I wasn't used to it. I also had to adjust to the new type of people. I’ve dealt with racism in school with a younger generation.” My following question was, “What was the most enjoyable thing you remember about college?” “Being on my own,” my sister started, “I felt liberated. Also, I enjoyed my writing and philosophy class because I was able to have deep discussions not only with my professor but with other students and I was able to express myself.” My last question to my sister was, “What was the most important lesson you learned in college?” Jennifer thought about it for a moment then spoke, “It's okay to fail, you just have to keep going.
