How, you might ask, but the news was only throwing pit bulls on to the news for a long time. People are forgetting that other dogs and animals can cause damage, too. The source used for these assertions was the source “ The Media and The Pit Bull” by James Cross. According to that source, when the dog that attacked someone is not actually a pit bull after some research, the public already believes that it is a pit bull. Hence the line “Even if it is later revealed that the dog was not in fact a pit bull, the damage is done, and the idea of the pit bull as a dangerous breed is reinforced in the
Cesar Millan who has his own show on Nat Geo Wild called Cesar 911 works and owns his own pit bulls. He has had a dog named daddy who was raised with Cesar since 4 months old. Cesar had a large pack of dogs so it made daddy well socialized and never aggressive with other dogs. Daddy with two small boys of Cesar’s laying and sleeping on daddy he got the best play time with his kids and was calm and soft with Cesar’s kids. If other dogs were being mean to him he would just walk away and not start anything(Millan). With that in mind I feel that pit bulls are misunderstood and can be very good pets if raised with the correct and proper training. These dogs might look mean and aggressive If the dog is trained by someone to fight they will take the most time to open up.
“However all pit bulls were automatically included in either the dangerous or vicious category.” Pit bulls are treated badly by that quote and according to “THE MEDIA AND THE PIT BULL’’ people expected to hear bad things about pit bulls on the news and
1. Never fear pit bulls are here, these pets are not dangerous at all. Pit bulls can be allowed as pets because, they are working dogs, and are used as hunters and guardians. They also are used in war to help win battles. The pit bulls can be very good at helping.
An intense debate follows when the word Pitbull is mentioned. Pit Bulls do not have naturally, dangerous characteristics, yet they are still negatively perceived by people believing they are all aggressive dogs and dangerous to the public. The banning of Pit Bulls has caused the establishments of anti-Pit Bull banning organizations. Moreover, laws that ban this precious breed of dog creates illusions, but not the reality of public safety, which is why Pit Bulls should not be banned anywhere and must be allowed to live in any residential area with their owners.
When i hear that someone has done something to a dog i get sad but sometimes there are dogs that getting hurt or killed because they attacked someone or something living. To top it all off, many news organizations will automatically call the unknown breed of a recently bad dog a Pit bull. In the article, "The Media and the Pit Bull," the author states in paragraph three that news organizations will call an unknown dog breed a Pit bull. I find it humorous that the same people who whine about racial profiling, racially profile an animal for another animal's mistakes. Where is the justice for these staggering critters? When shall these preposterous accusations climax? Let's act like adults and grow up please. Let's stop accusing animals of things they didn't do, that goes for any animal.
When you mention the words Pit Bull, many times people immediately begin talking about the statistics of them attacking other people as well as other dogs. A survey was conducted in 2009 of attack percentages of Pit Bulls compared to other breeds such as Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Chows. Among this survey, the Pit Bull breed scored the lowest with a 0.00125 and the highest being the Rottweiler with a score of 0.00433 (https://defendpitbulls.com/pit-bull-attack-statistics/). On the website Dogsbite.org, it states that Pit-Bulls are the leading culprit in dog attacks, this is just a broad statistic which does not adequately explain whether these attacks were of
Pit Bulls are wrongly accused and killed for false actions due to countless, untrue stereotypes created by the actions of humans. Pits have been treated as the outcast of dogs for years now and it has to stop. A numerous amount of innocent dogs are being killed for these false statements. Many states have already issued BSLs or Breed-Specific Laws against Pit Bulls, these laws often have no specification of the dog itself just if it resembles any of the physical characteristics of a Pit Bull.
The main reason pit bulls attack is because they are mentally unstable, a mixed breed and show overbearing traits, or because they are mistreated by their owners. The public must understand that the three “pit bull breeds were bred for dog fighting and bear and bull-baiting” (PBRC). On the other hand, they were also kept as “nanny dogs” and used for herding cattle. “Pit bulls are ideal for therapy work because of their pleasant nature” (PBRC). These are three of the most stable breeds known to man. They have a very high temperament test score, 86% as of 2010, a lot higher than most breeds. “The American Pit Bull Terrier is one of the top 5 most stable breeds in the country” (PBRC). Anyone can see that this is an excellent breed of dog. There are a few things that people should know though. “Pit bulls have a lower Tolerance to dogs, but with any breed, a dog’s tolerance changes as they mature” (PBRC). “Maturity can come late with pit bull breeds” (Villalobos Rescue Center). The reason for this low tolerance is because of their history of dog fighting. It has been bred into them to have the will to fight. Pit bulls usually do not start a fight most of the time, but they will not back down or give up. Due to this, owners must be cautious and attentive.
MAIN IDEA #2: One of the biggest preconceived notions about the pit bull is that they are the most dangerous dogs in the world that run around wild-eyed and blood thirsty. They have been improperly labeled as vicious creatures that are incapable of love and
Many people have this stereotype about Pit-bulls being a dangerous and unpredictable type of breed. It is true that a majority of people think that pitbulls can be dangerous but then there are a majority of them that think they are sweet loveable dogs. A quick statistic from Pitbullinfor.org states that “20% of the 90 million dogs/breeds are Pitbull’s” (- Accurate Statistics and Information, 2018). In my paper I’ll be talking about both sides of the stereotype of this breed.
Pit Bulls are among the top percentage of dog bites across the nation, but it partly due to the misrepresentation. Most handlers just see a similarity to a Pit Bull’s physical appearance and then the dog is classified as such. The media always misrepresents and wrongly accuses Pit Bulls, they are always quick to name the pit bull breed as the attacking dog. The government also does the same thing if a dog has similarities to a Pit Bull, then it is automatically classified as a Pit Bull even if it’s not correct. They don’t care about
Owning a pit bull in today’s day and age has one of two reactions: Either the person loves them or is terrified of them. There are so many myths about Pit Bulls and they are just that. Myths. Some of the myths that surround pit bulls are that they have “lock jaw” and they have a killer instinct that does not stop at just killing other animals. Pit bull advocates, such as myself, know that Pit Bulls have always been known as the “nanny dog” throughout history because of how much they love children and their loyalty to their families. Mean or vicious dogs come from ignorant, irresponsible owners. The bottom line is that not all pit bulls are bad.
For the past several decades people have been in fear of pit bulls, because they appear to be the most dangerous dog. As a result, every breed of pit bull nation wide is getting banned. First of all, pit bulls do not have the strongest jaw, in fact compared to Rottweilers and German Shepherds the pit bull was the weakest at 235 psi (“Why Pitbulls Should Not be Banned”). Secondly, people have this thought stuck in their head that pit bulls attack more frequently than any other dog. However with proper training these seemingly fearsome dogs are all of a sudden the best family pet (Enos). Pit bulls by nature like any other dog breed are not inherently
Pit bulls are the most misunderstood dog breeds in the world. When people hear the word pit bull they automatically think of dogs fighting and attacking. When people say "pit bull" they're usually referring to a range of breeds and, often, a mixed-breed dog. (Lawrence, C Louisville Magazine Feb 2007) People think they are a very dangerous breed of dog. Because of this, some areas do not allow pit bulls and breeds like them. Pit bulls are the leading culprit of dog bites in America, but on the other hand, they are the gentlest dogs people will ever meet. The National Canine Temperament Testing Association
