How Congress Should Enact A Law Increasing Pay And Closing The Gap Between The Civilian Pay Scale

Could you imagine working 80 plus hours a week and only earning around $26,000 in salary per year as a flat rate, but there’s a catch. The average enlisted soldier with four years or less of service makes roughly $2300 a month and that’s with 65 hours plus a week. An average day consists from working from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM or later with no say in the matter. $27,600 a year before taxes before paying your benefits and retirement. Breaking this down to a 65-hour workweek enlisted soldiers are making less then Minimum wage. Soldiers protect our freedoms our way of life and our country, regardless of the physical or emotional cost, even with the risk of ones life. Congress should enact a law increasing pay and closing the gap between the civilian pay scale and the military pay scale.
The military pay scale should be increased, closing the gap and offsetting the difference in yearly wage for many reasons, but most of all time spent on the job. Soldiers wish they have a set 9 to 5 it’s around the clock 24 hours 7 days a week you work when you’re told to work. First there are no sick days no tired days no hungry days if there is work to be done it will be done. Ones job as a soldier never ends, counting the hours till you get home does not happen most of the time one counts the week’s, day and months. The biggest fault is when that moment comes and you relaxed with family all it takes is a text or call saying be at work in 20 min. Civilian jobs 9 to 5 if the job is not done there
