How Creon is an foil Antigone In Sophocles’ play, Antigone. Antigone is completely opposite than creon in many ways. Creon is a stubborn, and cruel,he had become a leader after eteocles and polyneices has fought and being killed. Creon is seen as a tragic hero according to his ego and attitude which led to his downfall. “Why the delay? There is nothing that you can say that it should wish to hear, as nothing it say weigh with you…” Antigone feels like creon is ignorant to what she is telling him. It seems like Creon doesn’t feel bad about his action at first, but later he understand that what he was doing was wrong and he regretted it. Creon believed polyneices was the enemy, “he’ll be left unburied, his body there for birds and dogs to eat, and,ear emended of his shameful fate”(lines 234-236). Antigone follows the gods rule, but now that creon had become a king, he had felt that the gods were nothing and weak. Antigone wanted to show her beliefs and their values since she and creon have different customs and way to do things. Creon has different customs and believes in the gods than Antigone. Creon feels that the gods aren’t powerful since he is king, which shows creon and Antigone have different beliefs in the gods. Creon believes that money is the most powerful thing in the world, but soon he realizes he had been wrong. Creon believed that the god would not take care of polyneices corpse because he felt that polyneices is a enemy. Creon had sentence Antigone to death because he didn’t want to accept that he was wrong for all he had been doing and what she told him was
