Abraham Lincoln showed a large amount of leadership in the Republican Party. He showed his leadership mostly in the white house. He did this by making sure that all Cabinet members were free to disagree with any argument they selected without fear of retaliation. He knew when to stop the discussion and after listening to the various opinions, he would make a final decision. Abraham Lincoln was able to acknowledge his errors and learn from them. When there was success, Lincoln shared the credit with all of those who were involved.
