African Americans have been treated unfairly for many years since slavery. Although slavery had ended in the U.S., whites were still being disrespectful and racist toward the African Americans. They still treated them like they were lower than all the whites. Just because of the color of their skin, African Americans were being mistreated. They did all they could possibly do to get equality for blacks, but they did them nonviolently. They never even once used violence. They did events like boycotts, sit-ins, school integration, and marches. I was very shocked about the story of Emmett Till. He was just an average 14-year-old African American boy who had whistled at a white lady, not knowing the customs of the South. A few white men kidnapped
In the history of the United States, African Americans have always been discriminated against. When Africans first came to America, they were taken against their will and forced to work as laborers. They became slaves to the rich, greedy, lazy Americans. They were given no pay and often badly whipped and beaten. African Americans fought for their freedom, and up until the Civil War it was never given to them. When the Civil War began, they wanted to take part in fighting to free all slaves. Their opportunity to be soldiers and fight along side white men equally did not come easily, but eventually African Americans proved themselves able to withstand the heat of battle and fight as true American heroes.
The African American experience is one that is quite different from other racial/ ethnic groups. The majority of the first African American came over, unwillingly, on ships from various African countries. They were brought to America by white, European settlers to be used as slaves in an order to plant and harvest their crops and make money for the white man. This racial group was treated as if they were property and not people. However, with the ending of the American Civil War, African Americans gained freedom, freedom that not all white American were quite ready to handle. After gaining their freedom came the need for education, jobs and suffrage rights. Now in America this racial group has come a long way, having elected its first African American present for two terms, yet still there are many issues that are very prevalent. This racial group has been fighting their way to equality since the birth of this nation. African Americans have experienced an array of conflict, violence, stereotypes, prejudice acts, and discrimination against them throughout their history in America.
The African Americans, experienced for many centuries was very poorly in fact that they treated unfairly. In the communities today African Americans are targeted by their color of their skin. The police brutality towards black people is tremendously horrifying. The population of prisons in the U.S
Slavery was a time where blacks were treated unequally to the "white man". Slavery was that individuals were owned by one who work. In the Douglass Novel, Douglass narrates the story about his life during the 1840's. Life was unpleasant being a slave. No one would want to have life of a slave.
There have been many of times in the history of American where people have been treated unfairly. After the Civil War the 13th amendment was passed and black southerners were no longer slaves. Yet they were not really free. These people were unable to accesses the things that were necessary to sustain life. During this time African Americans had no idea what the “American Dream” was like. There African Americas of the south wanted freedom. They wanted the freedom of owing land, the freedom of marriage and bringing their families together once again. These people were willing to do whatever it took to be free, no longer having some telling them what to do or how to live. They intend to work and gain respect as any one American.
African amercians didnt have the same rights as the white did around the year of 1961.An example is “Jim crow “which was a set of unfair laws.Made segreagation the law equal opportunties not given to african americans or “non-whtes”.They well even beat african americans until uncontiones for only a cup of water may be in hospital for over then two mounths.Police offercers didnt help give justice they will cover it instead. They will even beat youif you testified. It wasent untill May 17,1964 that african americans were treated
Many African Americans were being treated unfairly due to the color of their skin; indeed
The whole story and trial of Emmett Till was probably one of the most saddest stories I have heard about. What surprised me most is the reason why they killed Emmett. This just showed how much blacks were looked down upon. Nowadays, women get whistled at all the time by all different types of men. This is just a rude gesture to whistle at a women, however we wouldn’t brutally murder them. What also surprised me was how they killed him. The murderers did not have to savagely kill him. This changed my view on history and actually opened my eyes. I think we need to be better educated on the subject that everybody tries to ignore.

Ever since the beginning of America there have been consequential events that led to the American Civil War. Throughout history, there has been much controversy over whether this war was or was not unavoidable. Upon looking back into the chronicles of history and the longtime conflict between the North and the South, one can see that the American Civil War was undeniably inevitable. And in a time when black people were supposed to be quiet, submissive and not involved or interested in politics, and the epidemic of racial prejudice was heavy in the North as well as the South, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and Frederick Douglass, and many more, dared to speak out.
As we have seen, African Americans haven't had such an easy way of living. They go through many struggles a day. I personally don’t think that they deserve to get treated like this, the whites are so harsh on them even when it comes to little kids. They have a lot of laws regarding blacks, one of them is that if a slave is caught reading before the war is liable they have to receive thirty-nine lashes, and from my understanding, is they get hit that many times for disobeying that law. For everything that they do there always has to be a punishment. Also the blacks don’t have lots of money, they are basically poor, but luckily during the reconstruction about two hundred charitable groups opened up saving accounts to help them out a bit. In
African Americans were fighting for freedom for centuries. They were treated very badly and they had supposedly going to have a better way of life after WWII. Keep reading to find out how African Americans struggled for equality in voting and the opportunity for a good quality education.
Looking back over the years of the United States history, one of our worst problems was the bad treatment of minorities. In the beginning there was selling of slaves which really split the nation. There were many people in the United States that tried to elevate the legal status of African Americans. One was passing the Civil Rights Act or Movement, in 1968 the signing of the Fair Housing Act and the recent re-enactment of the Affirmative Action law that African Americans would be treated fairly and have the same opportunities as Caucasian Americans. This is still not the case.
African americans have been fighting for their rights ever since they came to the United states. They have found it difficult to get the acceptance in the white society to be equal as a whole. Businesses are very bias on hiring colored people because they fail to understand that they are as equal as us. American finds the black society boycotting defending themselves against the discrimination in employment. Education is key to a successful black society because it they get the education they need businesses would more likely hire them. Black society are fighting for equal rights because of the act of racism so if businesses give them an opportunity the protesting will decrease greatly. American businesses need to be more lenient on african americans for these reasons boycotting, equal rights, discrimination.
Throughout history, African Americans have encountered an overwhelming amount of obstacles for justice and equality. You can see instances of these obstacles especially during the 1800’s where there were various forms of segregation and racism such as the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan terrorism, Jim- Crow laws, voting restrictions. These negative forces asserted by societal racism were present both pre and post slavery. Although blacks were often seen as being a core foundation for the creation of society and what it is today, they never were given credit for their work although forced. This was due to the various laws and social morals that were sustained for over 100 years throughout the United States. However, what the world didn’t
The role of African American has changed over the centuries. They were treated differently because of their skin color. They were treated like property for others uses however change happened. It was not a easy matter to change but one of the main reason it did change was because Martin Luther King and his speech “I have a Dream”.
