Throughout the history of the United States, black people have been treated with less equality than the white people. These days, although it has improved, there is still a long way to go. Lately, a group has formed called “Black Lives Matter”. This was in response to several incidents where police shot and killed several black people. The African Americans took to the streets because they felt they wanted their voice to be heard. Two historical events in history where race was a factor was Rosa Parks and Jackie Robinson. Even though slavery was abolished in 1865, the black people are still inferior to the white people.

When a white person came on the the bus and demanded she go to the back of the bus she refused. This got her arrested for going against the Alabama law which was that a black person had to get up for a white person when the bus was full. This started a boycott for the bus system that lasted for almost 400 days, which then led to the court banning segregation on buses.

Jackie Robinson is mostly known for being the first black person to play in the major leagues. Not only was he a hero on the baseball field, but after he retired he continued to lead the way for the civil rights movement was a leader, and did a lot to make the world a better place for the black people to live in.

Like stated in the beginning of the essay, no matter how far black people have come, they still aren’t equal to the white people. Black Lives Matter is an important movement for black people to use in their search for equality. It’s important to learn about black history because it shows the strides they have made. Who would’ve thought that when Rosa Park stood up for her rights that a little over 53 years later there would be a black President sitting in the oval
