Have you or a familiar face ever sat outside looking at the remarkable architecture, and wondered how in the world it had gotten there? If it wasn't for geography who knows where you would be today or if you would even be where you are right now. The Olympic Games are coming up next year, That is of course is a world watched entertainment event. But not many people know that they were first introduced in Ancient Greek civilizations. Geography had a dramatic effect on ancient civilizations. Ancient civilizations began to form mostly because of the agriculture in the geographical region, growing crops would also become much easier since the temperatures were getting a lot warmer. For that reason, people began to have a surplus of food allowing different jobs to open up because farmers were no longer needed as much. People began to settle down in one spot knowing they were safe from intruders, which led to the forming of ancient civilizations. This period was driven by the geographical details of Mesopotamia. Farmers devolved a new idea of keeping track of their planted crops called a calendar, still used daily throughout the entire world. People no longer had to hunt for their own food. Jared Diamond a world wide famous scientist who has wrote several best selling science books states, "Hunting and gathering took too much time and energy for humans to invest elsewhere".
