Militarism Militarism is when a country invests money in their military to increase its size and strength. Germany began doing this before WWI which caused raised tensions throughout Europe as well as some other countries militarizing too and when a country builds a new, big military they want to use it. Nationalism Nationalism is the act of one loving their country and believing that it is superior to all others. In turn this caused WWI because it was nationalism that caused the Black Hand to assassinate Archduke Ferdinand, also it caused citizens to think that they would surely win due to their superiority. Shell Shock Shell Shock was a disorder that soldiers on the front lines acquired from being exposed to so many shockwaves from the shelling going on around them. This would have caused the soldiers to lose control over their nervous system, making them twitch and blink uncontrollably. Middle East During the war England promised all of these countries in the middle east region their own land and country to get them on their side. However, when the war ended the English realized how hard it would be to follow through on every promise so they just made a few countries grouping different types of people together. This will cause problems later in time because the people who were grouped together in these new countries did not want to be together since they can not identify with each other.
