As the world’s most widely distributed blended Scotch whisky, selling over 130 million bottles a year, Johnnie Walker has a long and rich history.
John Walker was a Scottish grocer based in Kilmarnock who, despite being tee-total himself, produced and sold a brand of whisky called Walker’s Kilmarnock Whisky. His son, Alexander Walker, joined his father’s business in 1856 due to his father’s ill health.
A trained tea-blender, Alexander turned his hand to whisky, creating the Old Highland Whisky blend, which eventually went on to become Johnnie Walker Black Label and eventually made the company famous.
In 1908, the original founder’s grandsons were now operating the hugely popular brand of whisky, and decided to rebrand it as Johnnie Walker

Those of you who enjoy the occasional cocktail I’m sure you’ve heard of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. The reason the rum was named after him was that he got knighted, became the Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica and had the rum named in his honor.

This is a splendid situation where both the creator and creation have a rich history. The Teeling Family, since 1782 has been crafting Irish whiskey. All began with Walter Teeling and today his descendants Jack and Stephen carry on the Teeling legacy.
Based on the small Scottish island of Islay, John Jonston is credited as the founder of the first legal distillery on the site. With an abundance of peat on the island, Lagavulin’s water originates from the Solum Lochs and filters through this rich peat towards the distillery. Due to the high quality of this water it has been subject to numerous legal battles with neighbouring distilleries to secure exclusive use.
“He's one of them stoners,” the man replied in a quiet voice, “Dangerous folk; never heard his real name, but people around here call him: Walker.”
It is interesting to think that the novel the Catcher in the Rye took place in the time it did. In the world we live in today some of the things Holden did would be impossible to do today. It wouldn’t be the same, today we have so much technology and social media he would have gotten away with half of the stuff he did.
Advocacy is the active support of an idea or cause expressed through strategies and methods that influence the opinions and decisions of people and organizations (Buckley, n.d). Professional nurses have a long history of struggling to deliver patient care against multiple barriers, including dwindling resources. As we speed into the current century, the struggle is increasing in complexity. This struggle affects not only individual nurses, but also patients, organizations, and the nursing profession. Nurses’ strong commitment to patient care and their role as patient advocates often places them in direct conflict with administrators of health care organizations (Green & Jordan, 2004).
"Cooley Distillery: The Independent Spirit of Ireland" is a "David and Goliath" case surrounding Cooley Distillery, which is the only independently owned Irish whiskey distiller in the world. Located in Ireland, the company has managed to survive strong competition in the oligopolistic category of Irish whiskey in the global spirits industry for 25 years. The non-listed public company has remained a niche player despite gaining a staggering reputation for quality and innovation in its offerings. One of the biggest problems faced by the company is that in all these years, Cooley Distillery has never managed to pay any dividends to its 290 shareholders and John Teeling, the founder and chairman
History has a funny way of finding significance in what we think to be some of the more common or arbitrary things. We look for great historical events from leaders, wars, peace, and death. But what about the smaller, simpler things in life, ones that we so often ignore. It is those things that have shaped our history, from the beginning of time even until today. To truly understand history we must look at something many of us think nothing of, what we drink. What we drink is such an important part of how we live, how we act, and how we have changed as humans.

The story is that the Sidecar was invented during World War I by an American army captain stationed at the time in Paris. Each afternoon the captain would be shuttled by motorcycle to a local bistro, he, of course, in the sidecar. While his driver stood guard over the motorcycle, the captain enjoyed the drink of his design, the locals naming it in his honor.
“Fragile! This Side Up.” Simple words printed alongside an arrow on the side of a cardboard box. Red, faded letters that have reflected my past and have hinted at my future. Throughout my life I have moved over twenty times. I have lived in seven different states, over fifteen different cities, and upwards of twenty-five homes. Through each of these moves I have learned countless lessons that have and will continue to affect my life. Embracing new experiences and following God’s plan for my life are two lessons that I believe will influence my academics and goals during my time with Colorado Christian University (CCU). New experiences are life’s freebees that gave me the involvement and skills, I believe, I need to reach my goals at Colorado
