There have been many famous leaders in Roman history but none could match Julius Caesar[See Figure 1]. Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100 BC in Rome and died March 15, 44 BC in Rome. Julius Caesar is best known for his military mind and how he laid the framework for the Roman Republic. One of the quotes he is famous for is "I came, I saw, I conquered." Caesar has not just influenced Rome, he also influenced the world too. The Roman Calendar was rigged to help political purposes. Caesar devised a new Calendar called the Julian Calendar to combat that manipulation[See Figure 2]. The Calendar still has an influence in Eastern Orthodox Christian countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Greece and much more. That is only one out of many influences he has caused to Rome and the world.

Even though some believe that he was a twisted man one must look at the many aspects, and ask themselves is that opinion a valid way to describe this historical figure. He then became a governor of the Roman province of Spain between 61-60 BCE. One year later, in 59 BCE, he became consul, which is pretty important. Later, he left Rome for Gaul. He led the Gaul army between 58 BCE and 49 BCE. He then returned to Rome and became dictator in 47 BCE (for 10 years) and then elected for life in 44 BCE. He turned Rome into a “Marble City”.Or so that is what he said. He did many things but of course he had to make some dark choices in order to make Rome live up to its full name. Julius Caesar was arguably the most successful Roman General of all time, managing to through the political ranks in the senate, due to alliancing himself with the most powerful people in Rome at the time, Crassus and Pompey. Julius Caesar was politically adept and he was a popular leader of the Roman Republic. Caesar strongly transformed the Roman Republic by greatly expanding the territories, stabilizing the senate and establishing Rome’s imperial system. Caesar was thought to have been born on the 12th or the 13th of July 100BC. Caesar was born to a well known aristocratic family that were by no means rich. Caesars youth was very troubled, he grew up in a period of instability in Rome with gang fights and riots breaking out on the streets almost daily. This decreased the nobility of Rome, which at the time, seemed unable to handle the considerable size and influence that it had gathered over years of conquering. Caesar's father died when he was 16 years old and shortly after he married his wife Cornelia who was the daughter of another Roman Noble. The marriage of Caesar to Cornelia caught the attention of the Roman dictator of the time, Sulla. He demanded that Caesar divorced his new wife, to escape this Caesar goes into military service.
