Martin luther king is most greatly known for his “I have a dream” speech but there is much more to Mr. Kings life than just that. King led many Civil rights movements since the mid 1950’s using his words and non-violent tactics such as boycotts, sit ins, and protest marches to fight segregation. Born in Atlanta Georgia In January of 1929 King lived with his parents Alberta Williams and Michael Luther, his two siblings, Christine and alfred, and his Grandparents, Jenny Parks and Adam Daniel Williams. His Grandfather, Adam was the pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church which is the church where Martin would later be the Baptist minister and assistant pastor. He took piano lessons from his mom and enjoyed playing sports such as baseball and football. While King was growing up he knew that black men were not granted the same rights as white people. He knew they couldn't drink the same water,sit in the same seats, or use the same bathroom. He graduated from Booker T Washington high school in 1944. Later he enrolled in Morehouse college and got his degree in sociology and later went to Crozer Theological Seminary in pennsylvania for his divinity degree. To add on to his education he enrolled in a Ph. D program in systematic theology in Boston. In 1946 The atlanta constitution Published Mr. King's letter to the editor stating that Black people are “entitled to the basic rights and opportunities of American citizens”. In 1948 King is ordained and appointed assistant pastor at Ebenezer
