Mr. King Jr was born in 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. He grew up Baptist and was very much involved with his church. His father was a reverend. During his youth, King grew up during the years of segregation. Mr. King’s birth name was Martin King. It was only after a trip that his family took to Germany, did his father decide to change their names and that is how he became Martin Luther King Jr. King grew up to become a Baptist minister and a civil rights activist. Leading many movements and helping to make many changes in this world during the segregation era. One of the movements that King was involved in was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This movement also involved Rosa Parks, who refused to give up her seat to a white person. At this time White people were only allowed to sit in the front of the bus and African Americans in the back and they had to give up their seat if there were no more seats available for a white person to sit. Mr. King led the movement and it went through to the Supreme Court where the ruling was handed down that segregation on the buses would come to an end. …show more content…

He didn’t do this to become superior or to make people think that one race was better than the other. He did this to show that everyone is equal, no matter what race they are. He continued his work even though it put both him and his family in harm’s way. During these times, King’s house was bombed and he was arrested several times.
