On the 15th of January in 1929 Michael king, later knows as Martin Luther King Jr was born Atlanta Georgia. In 1944 king begins his freshman year at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Then in 1946 the Atlanta constitution publishes king’s letter to the editor stating that “black people are entitled to the basic rights and opportunities of America citizens.” In 1948 king receives his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Morehouse College, then in 1951 king receives a bachelor of divinity degree.
King and Coretta Scott get married in 1953 later on have 3 children. In 1955 King got awarded his doctorate in systematic theology, in the same year on the same day Rosa Parks got arrested for refusing to give her seat and move to the back of the city bus in Montgomery to make way for a white passenger. On the 17th of September the Montgomery story is published. King is not long after arrested at a demonstration at Rich’s department store in Atlanta. He is sentenced to four months hard labour for violating a suspended sentence he received for a 1956 traffic violation, he is then released on a $2000 bond. After the initial group of Freedom Riders seeking to integrate bus terminals are assaulted in Alabama. In 1963 King pens his "Letter from Birmingham Jail." The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom attracts more than 2000 people, on the following day King delivers his "I Have a Dream" speech. On the 10th of October the FBI wiretap King’s home phone.
