Queen`s Journey to becoming a Rock Legion Would you think it’s appalling if you had a normal band and you were trying to be an influence to a genre of rock and roll, then someday you were. People like your music and without giving up, you keep trying during hard times. If you want it so bad you might actually have your dream come true. While Queen was trying was trying to get people to love them, they had a lot of disappointments and accomplishments. To how they met, came up with their band name, accomplishments, disappointments, their concert and tour experiences, and their legacy, shows they influenced the rock and roll genre. Queen had a big break; they were doing benefits such as helping for AIDS, and getting recognized. When Queen had gone to Britain and performed for Mott the Hoople in 1973. They were the opening act for Mott the Hoople which was a big deal to start their career. It helped their popularity to become bigger than it was. (Lupton2009) People started noticing Queen even more and they had gotten an invitation to perform at the Live Aid concert in London. The people at the concert thought that Queen was the best performing band at the Wembley Stadium. They performed in July 1985 and that concert was for a fundraiser. After Queen had performed at Wembley Stadium they had even more fans. For their summer tour in August 9th, 1986 there had been a huge demand for tickets. That would be their last concert with Freddie. (Gilmore 2014) Freddie had been diagnosed with AIDS. Freddie did not want the public to know until later in life. He had died on November 24th, 1991.The band still went on but they were doing tributes to Freddie, after he died. The tributes turned out to be ten albums, and reached the top charts in the United Kingdom in 1991. After Freddie's death Queen had a huge concert at a stadium on April 20th, 1992.
